Ambient Shimmer/Synth Guitar demo

Hoping this effect can get me close to this type of setup/sound. This is all hardware though, so it might be harder to control in a DAW.

I'm looking for convertors for OS X, but I haven't got one working yet - just a player. Do you have other formats?

Tried X Lossless Decoder?

The 'sox' and 'lame' utilities have (unix-flavored) OS X ports, and precompiled binaries on sourceforge.

[e] Or that one posted above ... anyone listen to the Japanese band 'X' :hihi:

Sorry, didn't mean to make you go through all the trouble, but it's good if have a way to access and manipulate flac since it's smaller-than-wav/aiff lossless format.

I'll work on learning Reaper later this week. It's a good host to test things in. School starts for the kids tomorrow, though, so today is a busy day.
Here's a few quickies. The first one runs the pad through a basic octave up feedback sound - the classic "shimmer." It is based on the existing "Deep Blue Day" preset, except I turned the LowCut parameter up to about 100 Hz.

The next file shows off a fairly longish reverb decay. Things can get much longer, but for this input it would turn things to mud (the "infinite" reverb settings work best for a sound that lasts a few seconds). I am using the Taj Mahal preset in ValhallaShimmer:

Note that ValhallaShimmer makes a pad sound, well, like a pad. It is worth noting that it is easy to set up the plugin such that sounds with more abrupt onsets or decays can sound very "padesque." ValhallaShimmer can soften the attacks of notes, as well as sustaining the decays to near-infinite levels.

 That's the stuff! The octave shifting sounds extremely shimmery and nice!

Sorry for double post, but I just gotta say...

First of all, this may be the reverb I've been looking for but never found. Maybe I shouldn't give such high praise before I try out the product, but...

First I had RaySpace. Yeah, I liked the fact you could draw a room to create interesting multitaps, but its reverb modulation was pretty bad. Oh well, not like they advertised it in that way.

Then I heard ArtsAcoustic Reverb and was blown away!... at first. Later sold it because it couldn't deliver the sound I thought it had.

Then I heard Warmverb! Awesome! Oh wait, not quite. I wasn't hearing what I knew I wanted to hear. Also, it couldn't handle snappy sounds. It didn't turn a mono sound into a stereo sound that well.

Then I heard Eos! WOW! Oh wait, it can't do long enough reverb decays and I have to push the limits of that reverb so far that the sound quality falls apart before I get what I'm after. Eos clearly doesn't deliver what its creators hinted at. Never take hints for product capability, I guess.

I'm here to create amazing music and if the creators of my tools don't reflect that, how the hell am I ever going to accomplish something?

It takes an individual with passion like Sean Costello (Valhallasound), someone who knows what they're looking for, who's had a goal in mind for a long time. These other companies simply don't have that and so they put out products that that don't really push any limits and don't accomplish anything new.

So... I hope we get more people like Sean Costello

And a random note to Markus of Tone2, update FilterBank3 for God's sakes it's the best digital filter I've ever heard but it lacks modern functionality! Especially Warmverb really lacks some basic functionality. I can't even use Warmverb as a multieffect because it's so limited. Markus needs to be more like Sean Costello.

Um, in the interests of full disclosure: I designed the reverb algorithms for Eos...

Mr. Valhallasound, I'm glad you designed the reverb algorithms for Eos. I'm guessing you didn't design the interface or decide what controls it would and wouldn't have and you probably didn't design how much freedom those controls have. So, I'm not bashing your work. I purchased Eos because I did hear something good, and that's probably because of you. Eos is the best reverb I own. Just be glad when you get sales because you're new product is that much better.
