I'll work on learning Reaper later this week. It's a good host to test things in. School starts for the kids tomorrow, though, so today is a busy day.
Here's a few quickies. The first one runs the pad through a basic octave up feedback sound - the classic "shimmer." It is based on the existing "Deep Blue Day" preset, except I turned the LowCut parameter up to about 100 Hz.

The next file shows off a fairly longish reverb decay. Things can get much longer, but for this input it would turn things to mud (the "infinite" reverb settings work best for a sound that lasts a few seconds). I am using the Taj Mahal preset in ValhallaShimmer:

Note that ValhallaShimmer makes a pad sound, well, like a pad. It is worth noting that it is easy to set up the plugin such that sounds with more abrupt onsets or decays can sound very "padesque." ValhallaShimmer can soften the attacks of notes, as well as sustaining the decays to near-infinite levels.

Sounds luverley Sean!!! Can't wait to try it out on different sounds. Automating the pitch of the reverb and gating it could sound nice. Gimme!! Gimme!! Gimme!! Gimme!! Gimme!! Gimme!! Gimme!! Gimme!! Gimme!! Gimme!! Gimme!! Gimme!! Gimme!! Gimme!! Gimme!! Gimme!! Gimme!! Gimme!! Gimme!! Gimme!! Gimme!! Gimme!! Gimme!! Gimme!! Gimme!! Gimme!! Gimme!! Gimme!! :wheee:

I'm working on some automation issues today. It is too late to put a gate into the reverb itself - I should do this for future plugs. External gating will work for now.

Wahoo!! Thanks Sean. :D Yes, the main thing was being able to automate the pitch of the reverb. I was imagining that gating the pitched reverb with a midi triggered gate plugin would sound rather nice. I wasn't requesting midi gating within ValhallaShimmer itself. But, if midi triggered gating on any of your plugins could do things that could not be achieved by simply placing a midi triggered gate before or after your plugins, then that would be great!! :P

Coming right up! And by "right up," I mean 2 days later...

I used this file to demonstrate a basic "hall" setting in ValhallaShimmer. The settings for all 4 of these files are the same (feedback at half, size at half, diffusion at 0.85, bright tone settings, no pitch shifting, somewhat fast modulation), but I change the base reverb algorithm for each one. As the reverb algorithms increase in basic "size" from smallStereo, to mediumStereo, to bigStereo, to mono (the biggest reverb), note how the attack becomes softer and slower, and the decay becomes noticeably longer.

The modulation kind of reminds me of "Song to the Siren" by This Mortal Coil. Not quite as dark as that guitar sound, but that is easy to tweak in ValhallaShimmer.

I also used the "BigReverse" preset in Shimmer to turn the strummed guitar into a decent approximation of a volume swell. The following sound file is taken from the strummed chords at the beginning of the file, and run through a single instance of ValhallaShimmer, set to 100% wet:

Finally, a demo of the octave up "shimmer" effect. This is the "DeepBlueDay" preset:

valhallasound, I found the BigReverse preset to be the most interesting. but, why does the DeepBlueDay preset reverb sound mono? I'd love to hear that in stereo!

No idea - something must have gone fubar in the conversion process. Try it now.

I think we're all waiting for answer. :hihi: But I'm pretty sure it wont be a wave type price. I'd be really surprise that's for sure. Here's hoping for an Audio damage type price. :D
What ever!

Ya know, for a "Wacko", that's a pretty sane estimate.......

Hoping myself! :D

The Shimmer previews sound stellar - definitely looking forward to the release. Just curious, though, whether or not it will be able to pull off shorter more traditional plates or PCM-70ish halls similar to EOS or epicVerb.
