Is there a sound problem on mixdown with FL Studio or not?

true, the #1 reason to record in 24bit is confort, not to have to test recording level close to 0dB to get the best quality, at the risk of clipping while recording.

The presented case of a slapped bass is the exception that proves the rule. It needs extreme compression/limiting, which brings up the noise floor considerably well into the annoyingly audible range.

I've even seen FL bug reports showing a lot of stacked saturators exhibiting the little noise old plugins were sometimes adding to avoid float denormalization. But of course there was no good reason to want a so huge saturation.

Umm, .. yes, haha.

Btw. Gol, here's an idea for a future FL Studio super-saturator:

In this thread I posted about a clipper that got mentioned in yet
another thread here, called "TS Clip":

http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic ... 10#4235210

Why I mention it? It's good and it calls for development of a future FL Studio plugin called "FL super saturator" that would work similarly, but better (and oversampled)!

Three simple controls - REALLY easy to mix with!

Is that a chunk of satire or a bit of parity?
I was going for a bit of both.

I hope Tony is listening.
I want to see this in the next version.

Two bits = One Piece?

I realize that this is kind of discussing the obvious, but, the whole problem with 16 bit audio has nothing to do with the final product. We all listen to CDs. 16 bit resolution is fine when you have a near full scale signal (like a final master). However, for recording AND mixing purposes, its a really bad idea to use 16 bit if you have 24 bit available to you. If working in 16 bit, you need to keep most of the bits used to keep above the noise floor, i.e. loud. If you pull down a fader, in other words, to control a sound, you are reducing bit depth in a measurable way. This generally equates to mixes with 0 headroom, subtle inter-sample clipping and general craptastic sound. Sure, people can get mixes on old 16 bit digital systems that sound awesome, but they were generally well trained, and knew how to avoid all of the above.

24 bit, however, has a lot of misconceptions about how it handles audio. If you have a 24 bit audio stream, and have the program occupying maybe only 2/3rds of the volume, IT IS NOT THE SAME THING AS HAVING A 16 BIT AUDIO STREAM.

Long story short, use 24 bits if you have the option to. You have everything to gain, and nothing to lose...

No you don't.

Not really. Headroom has nothing to do with it at all nor does intersample peaks and if you get a craptastic sound from 16 bit recording chances are high, it won't be any better at 24 bit as 16 bits is more than adequate for recording.
Yes, recording too. To claim otherwise is just ridiculous.

Yes I have, processing power, and for nothing. Either I am too old or just have a messed hearing, but I can not hear any significant difference between 16 and 24 bit or sample rates above 44 khz for that matter. I do not notice any degrading noise floors either, when using VSTis( and if I did I would kill them with masking). I am able to notice a difference when oversampling, but not often to an extent where I find it oh-so-much better and worth the processing power. In particular a DAW rendering at a little lower level than another would hardly make me perceive it as degraded. To that end, a distortion or bit-reduction unit would have to be secretly incorporated to the DAW for heaven knows what vicious reasons. Maybe I am both stupid and def, but I will rather consider myself blessed: High end gear is a waste of space on me, so I will save my money for better purposes.

Hi and bye.
