It's a rite of passage, something we all have to suffer sometime. I speak from experience.

5pts: Mesmer Schmesmer - MajorBloodnok
Nice atmosphere with interesting digital sounds and parts from Oatmeal.

3pts: Come To Me - Mulperi
Nicely composed track with solid melodies, good sounds too.

2pts: TwoHeadsOneMind - tattiemannie
Celtic astropunk at its best.. ;) Nice pallette of sounds used well from tricky Wingy-Stingy, a self made synth, and Galileo from MaxSynth. Groovy riff and nice details.

1pt: not so slow - bzur
Good sounds and tune.

Wow, thanks for the points V'ger - that there score is better than I've ever got in all my other OSC combined! And nice to be able to use some of those weird Oatmeal sounds for something at last.

Still listening to the tracks but will post my votes soon.

Cheers

Right, here are my reviews and scorings for the NA2SC1 (finally). Ah done cogitatin' and now ahm coagulatin'...

5 Points - O Enoch - Gegech
I'm drawn to weirdness and I really liked the Forbidden Planet sort of thing going on here. I'm assuming Enoch in the title is the brooding biblical one rather than the 'rivers of blood' MP? Whatever, an atmospheric effort - and nice blend of TAL-Elektro and Micromoon.

3 Points - Mojo - V'ger
I really liked the 'vocal' right from the start of this and I think I recognise those deep bass drums from somewhere. The thing about Synth1 is just how versatile it is. The rhythm is great and there is a massive epic feel about this.

2 Points - Not so Slow - bzur

Just soooo mellow, and was that initial reference to 'Porgy and Bess' deliberate? Fish are jumpin'! But, it gets over that to a mellow rim-shot back beat with a slightly but nicely poignant vibe, which I liked a lot. And it's mainly Noisemaker so you must like this baby 'cause your track on the OSC20 is the business IMvHO.

1 Point - Superstition - new kids on the block

You know I really liked the (rumages for modern-ish composer's name pulled randomly from greasy fez) Gorecki style of string trio start to this and I think it would have been worth keeping going with this all the way through, to be honest. I know it was supposed to be a two synth challenge but I think the idea was that it was both synths at the same time rather than in sequence. Mind you the incessant beat I liked halfway though (reminded me of music they use in the HL cyber-punk mod Dystopia) and the Navajo-style chanting. The three-legged horse cantering in through the last few furlongs was a bit of a weird one though.

...and honourable mentions to:

Wrong Choice - Yeager
Nice arpeggio work but the synth doesn't really do it for me so you may be right! Never mind. We know what you can do mate ;)

TwoHeadsOneMind - tattiemannie
Straying into mad genius territory with this effort which is particularly impressive because you used a bespoke synth for this which makes some great sounds plus Galileo which I don't know but looks weird enough. Interesting relentlessness about it with more up-beat sections and of course the bonkers wobble thing is great.

Way 2 Dawn - vanmorrison ft Beatsoul
An endearing track with nice sounds though if I may say so the melody wanders around a bit randomly with some odd twiddles here and there. However, I think vanmorrison and collaborators are ones to watch in future OSC.....

Come to Me - MuLperi
Can't believe you pulled this together in an hour and a half (according to your posts and if my calculations are correct). Quite classic in a melancholy sort of way, down the disco - so there is the SQ8L influence. Funny sort of out of tune warble at the end I liked.

Mesmer Schmesmer - oh yeah, me

My track - more North Circular Relegation League rather than you lot in the Premier. I only wish I'd had more time to get to grips with Oatmeal, such a great synth with so many weird possibilities. One of the first synths I found so it's been on my HD for quite a while now and I'm always drawn back to it, in fact I discovered the whole OSC thing when I was searching KVR for threads about it and I realised that the OSC2 featuring Oatie had just finished - so I get my entry in a bit late but what the hell.

Cheers all!
