Akai MPK49 power supply?

Can anyone recommend a power supply for the MPK49? Generally It's bus powered via USB but I want to hook it up via the onbaord MIDI interface for controlling external so will need a power supply. I've found a specific supply on the US Akai site but I can't find one in the UK. I'd rather get something specific for the requirements of the MPK49 as opposed to those dodgy looking multi-adapters from Maplins. Any ideas?

.... PMT seem to be the only place I can find these. That's fine but how comes they are so hard to come by? I guess most people just use these keyboards via USB.

Out of interest, can't you power it via USB but still connect it via MIDI? Even a cheap powered USB hub could fire her up and not even be connected to teh computer.

A generic power supply that can deliver 6V DC / 500 mA would suffice me thinks.
Looks like the plug is of the generic barrel-type, but the dimensions have to be right ofcourse. Also check the polarity before connecting it.

... it's not everyone who wants to use it with a computer all the time. ARGH.

When hooked up via USB the MIDI out doesn't work directly from the MPK49. You have to route it via your sequencer. Kind of sucks really. I had an M-audio Axiom before. With this you could switch between MIDI-out via USB or to the MIDI-out on the MIDI interface.tehlord wrote:Out of interest, can't you power it via USB but still connect it via MIDI? I did come across a page whilst looking that had the exact type of power supply & the exact size of the connector. Can't bloody find it now though & I've thrown the piece of papaer I wrote the info down on! ARGGHHC00kie wrote:A generic power supply that can deliver 6V DC / 500 mA would suffice me thinks.

Especially when page 4 of the manual says this;arbee wrote:recently bought a mpk49. I was dissapointed that the power supply wasn't included. kinda cheap if you ask me...
1. Connect a USB cable from your computer to the MPK49. The unit will be powered through the USB connection. Alternatively, if you do not wish to use a computer in your setup or if you wish to power the MPK49 externally, please plug in the included 6V-1A DC power adapter.

Actually I'm not sure if this is the right one. This is an AC supply & the MPK49 requires a DC (6v, 1A). Don't know a great deal about this stuff but I don't think that would work would it?UltraJv wrote:Its the Akai MP6 PSU that you require :

Well, the mains side (110/230 V) is AC but it delivers 6V DC. So usually it is called an AC adapter, because it adapts the 110/230V AC to 6V DC.
