I want to be able to have my Edirol PCR-800 and Cantabile Performer where Edirol keyboard can push the play button and Cantabile will respond by starting play.

This might be simple for some, but would appreciate the help with this. I can get the Edirol sending a midi signal and try to get Cantabile to "learn".

Thx. A.

Hello and welcome to the forum!
Here's the quickest solution to your problem:
  1. Hook up the keyboard to the computer
  2. Right-click on the 'Play' button under the 'Home' tab
  3. Click on 'Assign Midi Controller'
  4. You'll see a message: "Assign: Waiting for Midi Controller...". Now, hit the 'Play' button on your keyboard. This message will now change to the name of your keyboard, the CC number and channel.
  5. Click on 'Assign'
  6. Enjoy! :D
This is the simplest solution. Cantabile allows you to do much more sophisticated things, which you can explore by going to 'Midi Assignments' under 'Setup' tab. All this is described in a very clear and understandable way, in the manual.. just click on the question mark in the blue circle (top right) or F1.

Hope this helps!

As I have a PCR myself the problem can also be that there is no controller map assigned inside the PCR containing anything for each controller element.

Check if the led display shows any value while operating certain controller elements. If not try to dial in another control map. You can also create your own controller maps with the software included with the PCR.

You should also check if the proper input port has been selected in Cantabile. The PCR provides two ports and can send controllers on a different one than the keyboard notes. To have a look into port assignments you can use the PCR editor to examine the controller maps too.

Hope this helps too.
