And away we go again folks .... time for you to you cast your votes for the best SQ8L only track.

See thread http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=294376

Having had a listen to the tracks, I am completely overwhelmed with the quality of this collection. Whatever the outcome of the vote, thanks and bloody well done to all participants! :tu:

Please listen to all the tracks before casting a vote ... I know it takes a while, but its the only fair way to do things ... Criteria for your voting decision is up to you, but I ask that you take at least some account of the range, nature, use of the synth's sounds in your decisions.

So here's how!

Visit the One Synth Challenge site!
http://sites.google.com/site/kvrosc/home

Here you can download/listen to individual tracks as you wish, or download the whole collection as a zip file, access track info, access a playlist, and keep track of the voting.

You can also find links to tracks, results and all relevant info pertaining to all previous comps.

Big thanks to V'ger for setting it up this excellent resource, and all the hard work in gathering all the links and info together. :)

How to vote ...
Conveniently, we have the same amount of tracks as the last comp, so we can go with our favoured flexible votes system, and use the same allocation.

So you have a maximum of 24 points to award
You can give no more than 10 points per track.
You can allocate points to no less than 3, and no more than 6 tracks.

You should allocate your votes, in a single post, in this thread ... something like this ....
Track zxy - 8
Track xyq - 6
Track zyx - 4
Track yzx - 3
Track xqy - 2
Track zqx - 1

Reviews, however brief, are always welcome, but even if you can only find the time to add a short comment, then please do! ...it keeps the thread alive, and encourages others to listen/vote. I will do a review when I can grab a bit of time to do the job justice.

New Option for Voters! ... Suggest a Synth!
Those who cast a set of votes can also vote for the synth they would most like to feature in OSC22. Simply name a single synth preferrably in the same post as your votes, and make it clear ... ie "I suggest Synthname for OSC22". your suggested synth must be freeware and easily available via download. it must also be a synth which has not featured in a previous OSC.
The One Synth Challenge site has all previously featured synths listed on the home page http://sites.google.com/site/kvrosc/home
The synth with most nominations at the close of voting will be the featured synth in OSC22. :)

**Closing date for votes will be Sun 26th September**

Holy ****, I just had a very quick listen to the tracks, they're amazing!! :o :-o  :-o

Post

Thank you for this SQ8L OSC!
I have 2 points left, but I really can't say which song I prefer :) .

4 Strangled by strings - OSCXIX - Yeager
4 bWWd - Suspense (ahhhh...)
4 Deja VU (reminds me of the old adventure game "Willy Beamish" :D )
4 Running
3 The Future is Digital (is "mastered" with Izotope Ozone allowed?)
3 Look Ma, No Ensoniqs

halfwastedlove_olikana (too bad, it's to short!)

Post

Thoroughly enjoyed this one!

10 - The Future is Digital - Monopoli - (All of the '80s in one package: lovely production, too.)
8 - Mary's Prayer - Vanmorrison - (Surprisingly chilled, mellow track from an aggressive synth! Nice to hear it sounding so different!)
6 - Running - Mulperi - (Great soundtrack to an '80s action series that never happened)

Vote for next synth: Majken's Chimera

Anger is a sublimated desire for control.

I had a good time listening to these entries :)
My votes:

7 - Strangled by Synths - Yeager
4 - The Future is Digital - Monopoli
4 - Deja Vu - Steplton
1 - Suspense - BWWd

OSC21 suggestion: Daedalus
The more I hang around at KVR the less music I make.

Post

10 - Deja Vu, Steplton
8 - Strangled by Strings, Yeager
6 - Running, Mulperi

Post

Oh, OSC 21 nomination: Piper2 by Rock Hardbuns

Post

6. K-Bee

11. Mulperi

7. Monopoli

erm, in that order, I had a clearout of freeware synths yesterday and the SQ8L is the only one that stayed, I'd of paid money for that quality! I donated anyway!

edit, just got told to give points, I will pop back and do so, didn't get an email update on this so didn't know!

Just grabbed the download and there seems to be a certain retro flavour to the sounds over all the entries :) esp with the drum sounds. Votes in some point soon!

breakmixer, could you please edit the post with your votes? If you refer to the rules re. voting, you will see that 10 is the maximum score that can be given to a single track :)

Really enjoyed the 80s thing going on there by the way. All righty, here are my votes:

9 TheFutureIsDigital - Monopoli.
Just got me grooving along there, excellent 80s feel, funky synchopation, nice.
5 Deja_Vu - Steplton.
Yeah, I had a bit of that but still enjoyed it. Tinkling the virtual ivories there nicely ;)
4 Bwwd - Suspense.
Oddly melancholy for me - obviously reminiscent of too many nights in the 80s standing in the shadows of Glasgow discos with a warm pint of snakebite in my hand avoiding getting danced with by the girl from Clydebank whilst trying to write poetry on the back of fag packets. Or was that just me?
3 Belyrus - mrblitz000.
Another brilliant example of mrblitz000's mad genius.
2 Running - Mulperi.
Now then, this one definately starts like an 80s TV show and almosts immediately morphs into a pop song crying out for Jimmy Somerville warbling away there somewhere.
1 24.59pmAndAllIsWell - Tattiemannie.
Seemed fairly restrained for you Tattie arpeggiator wise, you must be mellowing, but in a good way. :)

All in all, great tracks lads and roll on the next one.

EDIT

My suggestion for the next synth: iloSynth 1
