How to best "work" with EEG Strawberry?

Hello -

I enjoyed the demos to the EEG Strawberry and appreciated that its a Kontakt 4 library (now 64-bit) so I purchased the guitar library.

It seems that in order to get the chord changes to work correctly and on time, I have to move the sequenced chord ahead by about a 1/32 note. This makes it awkward to sequence, or worse yet, to play live. Is there a strategy to use to help make this less awkward, or do I have to just "live" with this issue??

Here is my system:

Mac Pro 2.66 Quad (version 1,1)
8 GBs RAM
Snow Leopard 10.6.4
4 Internal 1 TB HDDs (all instrumental libraries housed on second HDD)
Logic Pro Studio 9.1.1
MOTU 2408 MK3

My system is pretty reliable. It handles larger Logic Pro sequences (with orchestral and band instruments) very well with the latency set at 128.

I noticed that if I increased the latency setting within Logic Pro to 512, this awkward situation still exists with the EEG Strawberry library.

Is there anything that I might be doing wrong? Should this particular guitar library be housed on another internal HDD (there are a potential of 4 as noted above).

I noticed that there is an update for the EEG Strawberry library that is being created. Is the update finished? Will this update "fix" this situation?

I like this library and want to use it to the best of its ability. So, I respectfully seek advice.

I'm excited, so I have to share this. I just got the new chord detection system working for the update. You no longer have to anticipate the chord changes, because fretting chords is now instantaneous--unrealistically, but it should make it more playable and intuitive than before.

Its not out yet unfortunately.

Yeah, I'm really sorry about that. Basically when guitarists strum, they strum across the beat rather than starting on the beat. Of course, to do so it needs to know in advance about the strum key and chord. While it makes it more realistic, unfortunately it also makes it less intuitive.

Right now I'm finishing up the update, which resolves this issue by replacing the strum pattern engine with a more flexible and intuitive strum palette system. I'll hopefully be posting a beta for that very soon (possibly today if I can finish entering the additional chord definitions in!).

Wow! Thank you for taking the time to reply to my post. I sincerely appreciate the input. Also, thank you for the link to the beta version.

You created a fine product, Greg. Although it's a challenge to learn, it's a welcomed challenge. The end results are sure worth the effort, for me anyway. It's a worthwhile investment for my musical and sequencing needs. I'm eyeing your bass library for my next purchase.

You're most certainly correct about that! LOL! One doesn't learn any instrument, and play it well, overnight!

It's just that. . . I've been sequencing for over 20 years, now. My aging and somewhat cranky brain hurts when I have to learn yet another something.

You learn while you live, or so they say! The bottom line of it all, as long as you're having FUN, it's great to learn something new. Lose the fun, loses the will to learn.
