If he does. I'm content with what I have. ^-^
Actually that's something I'm considering. For the lead guitar, it would have a lot of the articulations automated, like slide drops and different slide attacks, not to mention tapping trills and stuff. Also, the rhythm guitar section would be sampled with powerchords in mind.
That sounds awesome! Another idea (hint, hint!) would to have an "Evolution Electric Guitar - Ibanez 7 String"...

That would satisfy the metal players! Plus, there is a real lack of sampled 7-string guitars (at least a "real" sampled one with a B string!)

I definetly agree on the Ibanez 7 string. :D

Add that to your list Greg! I will never ask for another sampled guitar again, I promise. :)

I may ask for drums though...

I'm really excited to have some decent acoustic guitar in the near future. Apart from that some other e-guitars would be nice(Les Paul, Strat...).

@ edrummist

Thanks. It's sometimes hard to do everything in a song yourself, but nevertheless it's satisfying when you have achieved a good result ;-). What you can hear is all midi/virtual instruments and I'm sure I can do even better with Evolution Guitar.

Hey Greg.

I've dropped by to thank you for releasing the beta of the rhythm component. I'm in the process of changing my isp, so it's pretty lucky that you released this whilst I managed to blag a go on t'internet.

I'll check it out tonight and hopefully report back that I (finally) have a working rhythm guitar engine.

The preview video looked really impressive. It's safe to say that I'm excited :D

To that end - for ultra realism - for really softly fingered chords on, say, where the note on the neck would compute to the fifth fretted position on the string, a harmonic would then play (and so forth at other harmonic points on the neck).
Doh! I didn't realise that you'd implemented this anyway but in a different way - I thought the mutes were just that (and to be honest I wasn't overly impressed with them). I didn't realise until last night that if you strum a fretted chord after you've taken your hands off the fretting position then you get the mute at that position, and that the softer you strum the more the harmonic comes through (if the fingers have "fretted" in the correct position for them that is).

This is very nice. Really impressive and very expressive. Nice one, thank you Greg.

I've been able to do away with my mute keys in the strum palette which means I can use those keys for something else now :) .

Cheers

Ah, that's great to hear!!

I'm trying hard to get this update finished. It's tough because I have a few other projects going on right now. But that just means there's going to be a flurry of new sample libraries from OTS soon. :)

This is one of the options in the original strum engine. The only way to do it now seems to be to let go of the keys that are playing the chord, which isn't so intuitive and interrupts the flow when playing a pattern. Pressing a key to silence the chord seems more natural to me.
Just bumping this as I'm interested in a "Rest" key in the rhythm component as well.

Also, what are the chances of tighter palm mutes? Or a control that can make the palm mutes tighter (e.g. an envelope release control)? Just wondering, like.

Also, what I liked about AAS's Strum Electric was that there was a single assignable control for effecting the strum speed - what I used to do was after creating my midi performance I'd use Cubase's midi lfo insert to randomly modulate within a very small but controlled range the strumming speed. I know we can set the strumming speed via the individual keys in the strum palette, plus we can have it affected by the strum velocity, but if there was also a global control that allowed very slight variations to the already set strum speed (which would allow for similar modulation) then that would be cool too.

Also... actually, that's all for now :D

I see, yes I can definitely make a "rest" key. How about having it on the C just above the strum keys (on both sides of the range)?

Greg,
Will you be implementing a way to adjust the volume of the release samples?

Post

Yes, I will--so there'll be some updates to the lead guitar as well.

Cool! Can't wait!

When??? :o
And we're waiting for acoustic guitar as well  :)

Post

I'm going to finish up the update when I get back (I'm in LA right now). Then I'll be working on the acoustic guitar. I was thinking about doing some development posts on the Orange Tree Samples blog about the acoustic guitar while I'm making it--with pictures and audio samples and stuff like that. What do you think?
