..I actually like what they've done with the UI. The app examples all look slick as well. Very un-Microsoft.

Knowing Microsoft, the OS will probably be full of weirdness and inconsistencies as well (apparently no copy/paste on launch, no multi-tasking either I believe?).

If they catch up on some of the essentials I think it may actually have promise. They are way too late to get even close to iOS or Android or RIM but hopefully you can get decent Windows phones for free or little money because of that :hihi:

You expect them to to copy those "features" from the iPhone? :P

Let's hope they don't copy the openness of the Android marketplace and get some proper quality control in place. I've given up on the app market on my HTC Legend because I get tired of trying to find something remotely useful in that uncontrolled wild-west crapfest.

Asian porn wallpapers, buggy soundboards, unfinished test-apps, nazi themes, lame attempts at games using stolen artwork from Disney or Dora the Explorer, ringtones, virusscanners (wow... really?), taskmanagers, tip-calculators, flashlights (i.e. empty white screens)... the list of junk goes on and on and on... :-o

it was the win 7 phones that made me take a 2nd look at smartphones. it looks sweet. whatever features it may lack from launch will be updated and added just like all smartphones. it's been getting great reviews, even from some known die hard apple fanboy tech writers. the only real issue i see is that apple, rim and google/android have a good stranglehold on the market(android has the best chance to take over, now that they have captured the attention of the mainstream).

slightly off/topic:

never expecting my carrier to get any in the near future, i had a faint hope that they would at least get an android phone, but because they were bought out by robbers, i mean rogers, it was slim to none. 2 weeks ago i ended up agreeing to get an iphone 4 due to the retention deal being offered. a week later they confirm that they'll get the acer liquid e. nice but i chose to stick with the devilphone. hopefully, in 2 years, or even earlier, with hup, i'll be able to choose from mid-high between all three + bb/palm
