No. MacGowan sang with the Popes, but that doesn't mean his father is the pope.farlukar wrote:Shane McGowan?
No. I'm not sure what you're thinking of here, unless it's the fact that Geldof is often referred to as Saint Bob.Blank_Frank wrote:Aahhh...Bob Geldof?
The word "father" in the question is meant literally, though the relationship is obviously fictional.

No...it's because he was the RatzingerTex Ariox wrote:No. I'm not sure what you're thinking of here, unless it's the fact that Geldof is often referred to as Saint Bob.Blank_Frank wrote:Aahhh...Bob Geldof?
(Maybe he was originally called Boomtown, and shortened it to Bob?)

But that doesn't suggest a father/son relationship. He wrote the Pope Song
Ah, I see - very clever. So Bob Geldof was a good answer, even though it's not what I was looking for.Blank_Frank wrote:No...it's because he was the Ratzinger
My question refers to the lyrics of a particular song. I was hoping that someone here would be familiar with the song, and would be able to name the singer/songwriter. But if nobody here knows the song, then I'll have to come up with some major hints.
Here's a small hint for now: at the time, the pope was Paul VI.

So it's sometime between 1963 and 1978 if that helps anyone

I clearly choose too obscure a song in my attempt to find something that wouldn't succumb to the first Google search. But the answer can easily be found with Google anyway - you just need to try some synonyms.

I thought The Fex was Pope round these parts? What the hell happened to The Fex anyway? Is 'Tex Ariox' The Fex under another name? Well? Are you The Fex, Tex?
Sorry, I'm rambling, just ignore me. I'll be offline for a couple of days...have fun!

No. Where did he go to?Blank_Frank wrote:Are you The Fex, Tex?
If I were the Fex, I would surely not have come up with such a useless question. Its lousiness goes on and on, yes it does.

My last post contained the big daddy (hint, hint) of all clues, albeit only for the singer, not for the song that the original question referred to.
The clue in this post, by contrast, should lead you to the song itself.
