So in my 'Synth1 Mr Wobble etc' thread I've been harping on about showing appreciation for some of the free stuff out there, and here's where I try to avoid being a massive hypocrite.

The following is a list of banks for Synth1 that I personally liked and think worthy of praise:

You can't mention Synth1 without a mention of Nolwenn/Ann's banks - I guess they occupy three of the slots in many people's top 3 ;) . Such a variety of timbres often employing some unusual and very creative ideas. I used a couple of her patches in my entry for the Synth1 OSC, including '$ Mutant Trompet $' - a brilliant (in both senses) evocation of a muted horn.

Teksonik's banks: really nice straight out synthy stuff, very much on my wavelength, some of patches I would like to have made myself, 'SpaceBubbles' (and one that, by complete coincidence, I have - my 'PAD Syncing' is *very* close to Tek's 'Fly By'). I'd like to hear what he could do with Synth 1.12, even if it's only an update to the existing banks.

Ouroboros 3: If pushed I might just choose this as my favourite bank. Well considered, efficient sound design that cuts away the fat and focuses in on what's interesting about a particular sound. Organising the patches into groups is a nice touch (and one that I've pinched) and there's a consistency and balance that means that the bank holds together as a whole.

Kujashi Bank - don't know who this guy is, but there's some top drawer vintage synth sounds here.

Luck's Rainbow Bank - Some gems in here, quite in yer face, but in a good way. HacPad is a favourite.

Kaiyoti Bank - 'Military Snare' the various big drums and 'Mmm Choir' are the highlights here.

Xenos Signature - SY Digital Bells would be near the top of my list of Synth1 patches.

Lunatique - Come on, thirty patches isn't enough - more please! ;)

bwwd's Pads bank - if you like pads, and I do, there's plenty here!

And the rest... there's 90+ banks, 1000s of patches! and though in all honesty I don't find every last one to my subjective taste, I've undoubtedly forgotten, or overlooked others that would otherwise have made it onto my list, so apologies to them. I'll try to make amends in the future.

Wow thanks so much for the kind words! :-o  Most of my presets were done on much older versions of Synth1 so to have them still mentioned is quite a honor indeed. Many thanks to you as well for your excellent contributions. It's great to see Synth1 still getting the love and still getting better. A definite Hall of Fame synth in my book. A million thanks to Ichiro Toda for creating and sharing such a great synth. :hail:

Well, like I said above, that kind of suggest an obvious course of action. ;)

But I'm soooooooooo lazy................... :hihi:

Actually I'm bored to tears today...............would make for a good project to update my patches as all of them need the Mod Wheel fixed..............

What does everybody think of as a good general speed for LFO to pitch? 75% ? Also what about volume? -3db ? Thoughts?

That's up to your discretion. ;)

I don't use one fixed lfo speed for vibrato across patches - though 72/73 often hits the spot for me. And, rather than modwheel, I'll often use aftertouch to add vibrato, or to increase/decrease vibrato speed, or both and/or the same with lfo>filterfreq. But generally whatever I think fits a particularly patch. Like, I say it's really up to you.

As for volume, I try to keep the perceived volume constant across the whole bank; other than to check for clipping, I don't really look at my DAWs output meter.

(Unless you meant Synth1's Volume control - well it's a shame that that information doesn't get saved with the patch, but you probably knew that anyway.)

I just meant the patch's overall volume. I keep S1's main volume knob at 50%. Yes you won't use the same vibrato speed on all patches but for leads and such I seem to prefer about 75% but that's personal taste as you say. I just wondered what other people prefer.

I'm 10 patches into my oldest bank and tweaking away..............reminds me of how much I love the sound of Synth 1.......

Oh thanks - that you're like my bank (and in the list of the "favorites").
I've made about ten full banks for Synth1, some of them I can load up
here in the Banks & Patches area.

There are a lot of Vangelisque sounds in it....

ciao
