Pipestone

Pipestone National Momument's in the southwestern part of Minnesota. This was my impression of a visit one fall night.

nice to hear something new , from you ...

i've listened through three times now , and i can't get past the percussion ...
big surprise , eh ?..
probably have that chiseled on my tombstone ...

the rest of the track is superb ...
the amorphous drifting ... the feedbacky rips ...
the subdued middle eastern motif elements are haunting ...

knock me out a version w/o the percussion track , please ...

Great atmosphere and effects, with a touch of Angelo Badalamenti. Very cool.

Very original and uncommon sounds, good tension handling. I enjoyed it, this is a truly dense atmosphere.

I've had quite a few strange experiences visiting Pipestone, John. We should do a weekend outing there sometime

Hmmm... HEY!! actually this tune IS a lot like that bus ride now that I recall! I'm just glad it was nothing like my trip to St. Peter for that barn kegger.

Yeah I like the different hues of sound combining with that cool perc track. Not much else to say except nice work ew!

Seriously though, Pipestone's a very powerful place for me- a lot of the old sacred sites in Minnesota are. A lot of weird and inexplicable things happen to me at them.

Love those quirky sounds in there - but have some problems with the percussion too. Seems a bit one-dimensional to me... quite a contrast to the rest, which is GORGEOUS (the rest, not the contrast). But then, maybe that was your intention...?

Not having been there I have nothing to compare with, but I like this.

It seems to be sounds that shouldn't fit together well, but it really works. I like the apparent randomness of it, but it's definitely held together well as a coherent whole.

I can definitely hear the uTonic sound there...

Yeah- that was what I had in mind. However, it seemed not to work so well. I might have to put up a version with reworked drums- watch this space

I've resampled a bunch of my uTonic kits for use in Maschine. They sound quirky enough as is; sampling them into Maschine and being to use its sequencer and effects on them's even quirkier

I love uTonic, and my only problem with it is that I can always find a use for a sound when it's part of a mix. Don't know I'd get much in the way of good feedback if I just rendered some loops from it, but I think I'd get some enjoyment from it at least...
