Well, first off thanks! :)

Second, I really am just an amateur. I've only taken up sound design in the last year or so and I'm still learning. In fact I think/hope I've learnt quite a bit just doing these two banks.

Tips? My method is one of mostly undirected messing around until I happen upon a patch that I think has something interesting about it - I'll then I spend a lot of time attempting to focus in on the bits I like, whilst cutting away the unnecessary, or distracting. A finished patch is really an aggregation of very many adjustment>listen/compare>decide cycles.

There's also a fair few Synth1 specific tricks that I've employed - looking at/ reverse engineering my patches should uncover these. ;)

SOS's "Synth Secrets" series is well worth a read!

:)

this thread is funny! Hakey, why did you do this bank? You seem to be keen on hearing "Thank you" no?

So just to satisfy your ego and without hearing any of the patches i say "Thank you" for Bank 1 for not expecting anything in return. Thats a damn noble thing to do!

Here it comes: THANK YOU!

... will chekk out the sounds soon i hope :) ...

Well your post is a bit odd too - can't decide whether it's meant as deep sarcasm, or if the backhanded compliment was unintended. :?

FWIW, though giving away these banks likely had something to do with 'ego' (I would argue that this is the case wherever someone offers up there creative efforts, here at KVR or, indeed, anywhere), hearing 'thank you' doesn't do that much to superficially bolster my self worth: I really don't see the link between an expectation of politeness and ego gratification.

Now the question I'm left pondering is - does obstgegenrechz become the first name on *the list*? :hihi:

I got the first bank .The second one is on which page of this thread please ?

Too much typing, but obs will do in a pinch.
If someone puts many leisure hours into a project, and offers it for free, then never hears appreciation from those using it, its likely the next such project would be handled differently. Even a desert wasteland like ebay has infrastructure to include and document good manners.
Cheers :)

You might find, as I did, that a lot of patches created before the revision that added the sub oscillator (and also reversed the saws and changed FM somehow) sound quite different in newer revisions, and can't be tweaked back into shape. Patches that use any combination of FM, RM and sync are affected.

I discarded a load of my old patches for this reason (including my favourite FM piano, which I still can't replicate in 1.12  ).

I have all synth 1 version 1.07 ,1.10 ,1.11,1.12 in different folder names . I renamed the dlls too.

edit:I ve just read that the e second volume only goes to the ones who thanked before the author posting the "thank rule" .
I think this is too harsh. maybe there are people who have just found this thread and want to hear what the two banks sound like first and then post an opinion.

Read the rest of the thread.

Maybe they should decide whether they liked Vol 1 before asking for a second helping? Vol 2 really is just more of the same - if someone, bless their malformed listening apparatus, don't find the first to their taste then they are highly unlikely to find anything of interest in the sequel.

And those who, regardless of whether or not they liked Vol 1, just want Vol 2 to complete the collection - and I'd include amongst them the person who pm'd me saying 'I haven't listened to Vol 1 yet, so can't give an honest opinion, but I'd still like the link to Vol 2 please' - well, that's behaviour verging on the neurotic and I'd rather not be a party to feeding such neuroses (honestly, I'm saving you from yourselves ;) ).

I listened to all the presets in volume 1 .You have good skills and I would like to listen to the second presets volume.

At the same time I still don't like your attitude towards the ones who didn't thank you .You know that secretly waiting for a reward of any kind while pretending to do something for free is not right. When you said first volume is free that means you don't expect even to be thanked.

Hmm... I can't say I like you're attitude much either. :P

Oh and:
ocmtime wrote:When you said first volume is free that means you don't expect even to be thanked.
1. Never said that.

2. Nevertheless, Vol 1 is unquestionably free to download - and there is no obligation upon anyone to thank me for it.

3. Both Vol 1 and 2 = my patches - I'll give them out as I choose, to whosoever I choose.

4. End of! :x

I think it would be best to read what the OP said about requesting the 2nd set of presets. Read.

And furthermore, do you think you'll get your way by browbeating him? For crying out loud, he is giving these away. If you don't want to do what he asks, just ignore him. They are only Synth 1 sounds. They won't change your life in any way.

what list are you talking about ?

and about the fact that you can choose whom to give or not the presets well it is true but to me it sounds like discrimination based on people's manners.not everybody gets the chance to proper education
