Same here.
I don't mind a little wear on a real vintage guitar, but all in all I prefer to do the damage myself over the years if inevitable, just like with toilet paper. :hihi:
In fact, most of my trusty live axes don't even have buckle traces on the back.
The frets, well, easy come, easy go ...
I have good techs to take care of that.
With the mentioned Strat however relic is the only issue, and many folks don't mind.

Trev Wilkinson has seduced you, his parts are damned good (both my Maverick's are wilkinson hardware equipped and solid as a rock FWIW). Just do not pickup a Fret King and you will be ok ;)

Unfortunately I'm from Hungary and the world-wide shippers are usually too pricey. I hate that we have to pay more than the western countries, and earn severely less money as income.

I think I'll go for the Westone one here in my town, I'll just have to get better with the guitar, and work more in the factory ;) (So 2-3 years .D)

RIP Black Tom and Beckett. They weren't just cats, they were MY cats, the best cats ever.

That is pure gear pron top shelf photo there Ian
Guitar pron is not dirty/smutty at all (I am trying to convince myself)
Too heavy in weight (it would kill me) but absolutely lovely anyway

Speaking of T-Types, Eric how is your Tom Andersson inspired build coming along mate?

Tis pron indeed :D and the video clips did the looks of this guitar full justice :tu:

May sound weird to you Brits but I'm no royalist. :-o
As a proletarian I'm much more likely to pick up a Butler Tube Driver or maybe a Hofner President ... :D

Or maybe a MuchLess Chieftain ?

ooh, it's even got a belly cut...

that could be my new favourite guitar, just about perfect (even the switch!). Never thought of that 'junior' style plate on a tele before, perfect.

sigh... :)

It's 100% right imo :tu: shame about the price tag tho'

indeed.

My minds ticking now, thinking about how I could customise a standard tele for that look... I guess the bridge p90 routing would be the biggest hurdle... (well, to me anyway, not even an o-level at woodwork... :))

Post

Any competent guitar tech could managed the routing without breaking the bank Gary, but the plate might be a tad troublesome.

I was thinking a regular tele would have a slanted bridge pickup routing that would probably be bigger than a p90 routing...

re: the scratchplate: I always thought they should be pretty easy to make till a guy on the SoS forum (I think) who had built acoustics from scratch stated how much he hated doing them, too tricky.

A dremel, a sander and about two hours and it's done...as easy as making paper dolls :tu:

Buy a beater knock-off and try your hand at it, you'll probably surprise yourself. Make that the proto-type...of course you can also go to warmoth and they'll sand the contour, route it any way you want and more

edit: better link for warmoth the "body builder"...note the options have it all

Speaking of Tele's packing P90's, a band mate and good friend i see every week is a T-lover, this is one of the one's which he has and it is his faviourite/go to out of the bunch:

http://www.fender.com/products/search.p ... 0262350538

He swears by it. Its a signature model but i am not at all familiar with who the guy behind it is or the band he is in

It sounds not telecaster-like though more like a LP junior with lots of bite and snarl. Its not my cup of tea but sounds/plays well of the shelf with only minor setup adjustments for heavy gauge strings/dropped tunings in its favour (no doubt due to the 25.5 scale and LP style bridge and stopbar tail piece). Fugly colour IMO plus its only available in that finish and a maple board option would be nice, then again it would not be a signature model if there were options ;)

My dremel broke and it reminds me i must replace it (always something breaking or blowing up at my end!)

Edit: Yeah (Edit 3) Gary (my bad sorry mate  ) Warmoth it, so much simpler plus exactly how you like it/envision it for a fair price :D or if not 'nekrotize' it for good :hihi: which means that it becomes worth not a penny to anyone, but to yourself tis priceless :tu:
