Awesome, I kind of figured that you wouldn't have to uninstall/reinstall. Thanks for that info, Rick.

Well I worked all last night and tonight on reworking the tune I mentioned from 2001. Here's what I got so far:

http://soundclick.com/share?songid=9735385

The guitar tones are total killer. It's a complicated song with many layers, so I'll likely tweak the mix yet and I may even add a lead guitar at some point. The original song had no lead electric guitar as the acoustic mainly lead the song.

Post

sounds cool man. has kind of a japanese anime styled theme goin' on. a lead guitar playing some melodies, and maybe a solo.. would sound great.

Post

Nice job Luke ,
What guitar did you use?Sounds like the ramfire modern setting.
Your improvement is inspiring.
I spent the day on my old pc experimenting with a clean electri6ity
wave file through waves gtr3.5.I got some interesting sounds with the
metal stomp, into one of the Neil Citron amps. The GTR3 has some cool EFX.

ok... this is, by far.. the most insane remix I've ever done:

used all Electri6ity guitars again.. of course.

the winner of this particular remix contest will have their song mastered and placed in a 'Rock Band' game. so, needless to say.. the exposure that would generate would be freakishly awesome.

Rick, thanks for the listen and comments. The song has a space theme, but now that you mention Japanese anime style, I can kind of see that. I think the acoustic is giving it that little bit of flavor. Although I'd love to replace the acoustic with better software. I'm working on mixing it a bit better then I'll mess around with adding some electric leads and solos.

Your remix of "White Knuckles", I replied to your thread on the Cakewalk forums, but it's totally awesome! Good luck with the contest. You've got some insane skills so I wouldn't be surprised if you win.

Bill, thanks for the listen and comments. I'm glad my improvements are inspiring. I used two Telecasters with the preamp tube on but the preamp saturation turned off within Electri6ity. The tones are from my custom Rammfire presets. You are correct, it is the modern setting. Here's a link to download the five custom Rammfire presets I've made thus far:

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/11540065/Guitar ... iss%29.zip

I hope they can be of some use to you. I'll be creating more. The two presets that I used in this song are "Dreamfire 1" for the left guitar and "Dreamfire 4" for the right.

Rick,
Great remix .Good luck with the contest! It was nice to hear sustained power chords at the end.The lead guitar work was in credible too.Did you wind up using Ramfire? On the ni site, there is a video of one the ramstein guys
getting a graet sound with the ultrasonic.
Luke ,
thanks for the presets !

Post

I used Rammfire on all three guitars. Demon Distortion + Rammfire on left guitar, Mezone + Rammfire on right.. and Transamp + Rammfire on lead. also used the matching Rammfire cabinets in the Control Room for all of them.

still haven't gotten around to using the Ultrasonic with any guitar rig setups yet. maybe the next remix. :)

Post

Here is the Ramstein video.

Post

hmm.. that ultrasonic setup he's using sounds pretty horrible compared to what you can do with Rammfire. but guitar rig 4 is light years beyond what 3 is doing in that vid.. so, it sorta figures.

Here's "Into the Darkness" redone with Electri6ity:
http://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=9052621

I used four guitars for the rhythm, 2 left/2 right. Nice thick guitar wall of awesomeness. I'm really loving the crap out of Electri6ity.

Rick, how do you go about uploading your tunes to youtube while maintaining quality? I've used Windows Live Movie Maker and created a WMV, then uploaded that to youtube, but it always sounds like total crap.

Post

I'm just using Sony Vegas' stock render settings:

format: Windows Media Video V11 (*.wmv)
audio: 128kbps, 44.100 Hz, 16 Bit Stereo, WMA
video: 29.970 fps, 640x360 Progressive, WMV, VBR
pixel aspect ratio: 1.000

Sounds great! Your mix definitely has improved A LOT!

Hey Benjamin,
I noticed that the strat in your metal tutorial plays back
an octave lower than the factory les paul.In the instrument options,
the the transpose on both is 0.I want to copy your preamp settings to
the factory instruments.your strat has more sustain.

So is Vir2 ever going to release sample midi's with the proper way to use all the keystrokes and articulations?

It just seems rather odd that such a great product is put out with almost no help in how to use it.

The video's posted on Youtube are NOT very helpful. And most of them are using keystrokes and other articulation keys that aren't being shown in the video midi.

Furthermore claims that you can just "export from Guitar Pro" are highly exaggerated. Since all the effects from Guitar Pro to midi are done in velocity and pitch keystrokes are still used.

I heard things like divebombs complex forced harmonics and other things that neither the manual nor the "realism guide" really state anything on.

Also whats up with not having any presets?

I mean I do thank you ben for posting some preferences up to help make the guitar more suitable for rock and metal but why aren't there downloadable presets for this?

It just seems like Vir2 is going out of there way not to help people learn how to use their software. Either that or they think everyone who uses this software plays piano fluently.

I'm a guitarist and a song writer, I don't use a midi input to write because I don't need to, but so many problems arise with electri6ity this way.

Also whats up with it only going down to C? I mean you can set a 5th power chord with top octave and it'll play a "B" power chord but it sounds off. So why stop at c tuning with many bands and may musicians song writters now a days like to go down to at least A. It's only 3 notes to add in, and it would add a bigger demographic to electri6ity. Especially when it comes to rock/metal songwriters. I just feel stopping the tuning to c hurts the product in the long run.

Another problem with electri6ity that I've found is palm muted notes down change volume like they would with a real guitar the pm notes are just as loud which means extra production.

And don't get me wrong I like Electri6ty but it seems like Vir2 is holding itself back and SIMPLE things that Ben or any of the devs could knock out in a day or 2 and double the size of their demographic over night.

Also "Wishlist" type thing.

ADD A PRS CUSTOM 24 TO ELECTRI6ITY!

Thanks for the info, Rick. I may look into purchasing Sony Vegas. For now, I'll continue to mess around with Windows Live Movie Maker. It *should* do the trick, so there's something I may be doing wrong.

Benjamin, no worries I know you're busy. Thanks for the comments! I improved the low end and used iZotope Ozone 4 for mastering. I was able to apply medium compression without it sounding too compressed.

My DAW crash issues are really starting to become a huge headache. I've lost so much progress lately. So, I'm building a dedicated DAW finally. I should get all the parts by the end of the week.
