Ah, interesting. I wonder how many people here use wind controllers and would be interested in having it implemented into MesaWinds.
Greg, can't imagine how you can implement Mesa Winds for the EWI if you doesn't use AET or coding your own timbral morphing between pp and ff samples.

I own Samplemodeling trumpet and saxes, both are awesome, really fun to play with at the EWI. There is room for your flutes in the windcontroller's market, a lot of room, so the task will be worth, I think!

That's a really good point--there needs to be more than just a volume envelope when it comes to using a breath controller. I'm thinking about sending out a poll next OTS newsletter issue to see which version(s) of Kontakt people are using, that way I can determine whether or not it's a good business move to switch to Kontakt 4.

K4, all the way! :D

Really you should have special K4 versions for all your stuff, with neater UI, as a selling point! :)

I have a Morrison Digital Trumpet, which I absolutely love. When coupled with the proper software (WIVI, for example), it's an extremely expressive instrument that can produce results that are difficult to achieve on a keyboard.

I can't think of a more appropriate use of a wind controller than playing these sorts of flute sounds, so I hope you implement breath control in MesaWinds in a future update (I will likely buy the library now, while it's on sale, and hope for the best). I am using Kontakt 4, by the way.
You're bad... with my help, you could be the worst.

Hey everyone here is a track I made with Mesa Winds and Core Bass Pear the incredible sounds from OTS and the mastermind of scripting behind it Mr Schlaepfer. :D

there are some timing issues that i still need to fix but here is the current version: http://soundcloud.com/mtsproductions/sunrise

Let me know what you think.

Thanks

Nice, organic sounding track! Thanks for sharing. On the topic of wind controller mode for Mesa Winds, I think that would be a great addition. I'm spoiled with WIVI & the SampleModelling stuff. I use a Yamaha BC3 breath controller with a Kurzweil PC3X. Maybe it could be linked to volume & some kind of filter. Kontakt 4 here as well! -Perry-

I don't have a wind controller atm, but might pick one up at some point in the future. But for right now... I hope that you could (if possible) maintain the standard functionality that is currently there. Perhaps have the ability to switch between a standard mode vs. a wind controller/breath controller mode.

Just my half cent! :)

K4 at this end.
Available on iTunes, Amazon, etc.

Hi!
Today I bought MesaWinds and can say that it sounds really great. Good work, Greg! Thank you!

P.S.
I have 2 feature propositions however:

1. Additional manual expression control by CC11 (Expression pedal) - I think it will be very useful when you play MIDI keyboard live.

2. Make 'all-in-one' main instrument patch, that will contain all flutes samples and cover all of them. I mean something like Grand MesaWind that will use all flute range - from lowest G to highest B. Separate flutes is OK, but often their range limit doesn't allow to play proper melody. Of course, I can continue to play this melody by other flute, that cover higher or lower range, but it's unconvenient sometimes.

Thanks!
amen.

Hey Shramm, I think an all-in-one Mega Mesa Super Flute patch would be a nice addition. I'm "stuck" doing Christmas music at the moment but I want to create a western epic piece featuring Mesa Winds as soon as I get the chance! It's such a cool library. :D

I think controlling expression by CC11 is important ability too.

Hi, guys!
I recently finished the music for cartoon, where MesaWind was used as main instrument:

Wow, great job on the soundtrack for that! Honestly, if you hadn't told me that the flute was MesaWinds, I probably would have thought it was real... I love all the embellishments and articulations you used--great job!

Thanks! This points to the fact that you did a great work too ;)
P.S. Can't wait next upcoming ethnic wind series!

I just purchased a real native american flute and I think Mesa Winds sounds incredible. I have WX-5. Is it possible to use Mesa Winds with my WX-5 and get volume control from my breath?

Does the WX-5 output CC#2? Is that what controller number it uses? I can see about modifying the patch to rely on MIDI input for breath information.
