Any other suggestion for a low cost Echoplex emulation?
Do you think that the analog delay from the Voxengo Analogflux pack could do the thing?
Thanks

Again, it's not strictly speaking an Echoplex emulator (sorry!) but may still be worth a look:

I'm still not entirely sure I understand it, but I have got some nice tape echo tones from it; and I'm surprised it hasn't been mentioned already.

Bootsy (Variety of Sound) is developing a freeware VST tape delay with modulation that sounds very promising (NastyDLA). He has already posted a great sounding audio demo. He has also advised that it will be a CPU hog in order to achieve the sonic character he is shooting for.
He hasn't announced a release date yet but I imagine it won't be too long before it's available.

It provides for a set of (very) vintage echo gear mainly Meazzi used in the 1958-1964 timeframe in Europe. Most of the head timings are rather uneven and therefore provides special patterns required by the guitar combo's during that timeframe. As most of the present guitar player who want to play like "the Shadows" and much more this timing pattern and filtering is in detail emulated including the wow&flutter behavior. It was designed, as a labor of love project, and took about 300 man-hours including calibration by key guitar players to bring it to this level.

T-RackS CS Tape Echo.
The IK team really nailed it, right down to the motor noise and self-oscillation.

That might even have been somewhat interesting, if the automation / MIDI control system IKM uses in its plug-ins wasn't so incredibly retarded. Giving us only 16 parameters, without names? And that should suffice for all the parameters in up to 12 effect slots? And then whenever you change a module, the associated parameter slots become useless, so you have to reconfigure the automation every time you change modules?Brian @ IK Multimedia wrote:T-RackS CS Tape Echo.

And wait, T-Racks doesn't even *have* a MIDI control system. Sorry, my mistake. I was confused with Amplitube there. But this Tape Echo thing *does* have the exact same zipper noise issues on its controls that I have reported repeatedly to you guys ages ago for Amplitube, but never seem to get fixed.
Perhaps your target audience is just flipping through presets and doesn't really care about tweaking settings while playing music. But to me it unfortunately means your plug-ins are completely unusable, even though I like some of their sounds. Perhaps with a guitar amp that is not much of a problem, but I really don't think an Echoplex emulation should have any zipper noise on its level controls. In that respect, the IKM team didn't even come close to 'nailing it' here. When I can't tweak it live, I don't want it at all.
Thanks for the free demo, but within 3 minutes I have already completely lost my interest, as it failed to convince me of anything other than IKM's consistent failure to get even the basics right, according to my standards anyway. Fix the zipper noise on parameter changes and create a halfway decent automation / MIDI control system, and I might give it another chance some day.

(I think the T-RackS Tape Echo is brilliant
)
You might also want to consider the "EchoFlex" from Plug & Mix
