Session Load Times

Hi I've been using Cantabile 1.2 for some time in my live rig to host a sampler and VB3 alongside my hardware keyboard, a Roland RD-700. I've been evaluating Cantabile 2 with a view to ditching the RD-700,(love it to bits but it weighs a tonne), and going all digital with a smaller midi controller keyboard. All was going well until I came to look at session changeover times. I'm getting a changeover time of around 2 seconds which I know doesn't sound a lot but in a live context is hopeless. I get around the same time even if the racks are empty and all I'm doing is sending some program change messages via midi triggers. Just curious if this is typical of what everyone else sees?

That's an interesting finding.

I agree that 2 seconds are still too slow for live changes - especially within a song...

How are you loading the next session?

If you are probably using the setlist and midi assignments note that there are two options:
SetList - LoadSong (delayed)
and
SetList - LoadSong (Instant)

I've just checked with two simple sessions containing nothing but a few empty racks, triggers and midi routing. Reloading via home button - most recently used sessions list is nearly instant.

Glad that I guessed right...

"Delayed" existed first and was intended for fast browsing and not loading with each step.

"Instant" was introduced later, exactly for the purpose you are using it now.
