Shim Shim Shimmering all night long. It's giving me the Shimmers - even on Windows. And greatly reduced my eventide envy.
Awesome work, Sean!

I've been playing around with the demo and i'm amazed by both effectiveness and diversity of possible effects between pitch transp/delay stereo to multitap/ ER "room size" of modulated reverbs
All in all it is hugely impressive, every combinations having their own and typified characters
I've just one and very simple suggestion tu share with bothe devs ads early users :
-What would you think about the possibily to swap L/R input if needed in the stereo modes, it would make sense as special FX in some cases and i assume it would be easy to implement ?
If relevant, of course, so related point of view of anyone are useful...

Valhalla Shimmer used on all tracks and as a send. This is a prog melodic metal type song similar to Opeth/Iron Maiden/Porcupine Tree, with Shimmer to add some space/ ambience, Eventide pitch special effects, and some chorus. I just used the presets and tweaked the mix a little, so I barely scratched the surface of what this plugin is capable of in the hour or so of first trying it.

I have been playing around with the demo for several days, and kind of putting off the purchase... not because of the price (which is a no-brainer), but because I realized this plug-in opens so many new possibilities it paralyzes me. But I give up. Will get it first thing next week.
My only wish (at the moment): instead of chaining several instances of VS (which is something I'll be doing a lot), how about some way to do this easily inside one instance? And maybe some higher level "master" parameters to control the chain as a single effect, instead of just duplicating the basic controls for every effect in the chain. Sorry, getting ahead of things, I know...

I shouldn't try the Demo, now I'm trying to hold my impulses getting this plugin. I already many other High quality reverbs. But Besides Valhalla Shimmer sounds uniquely charming, it is very CPU efficient, it's hard to let it pass. It's on my wish-list.

Yes and Yes.
I had 7 instances of it plus some other effects going on my aging 3ghz duocore pentium 4 at the lowest latency I could go (96 samples or 2ms @48.0khz,24bit in Live with IK Stealth Pedal) , recording live guitars without having to freeze and no hiccups.

If you were thinking of getting the Sound Toys bundle just for Crystalizer, this plugin will end that gear lust for a much cheaper price.

I LIKE THIS!!! It reminds me of Eno's "Prophecy Theme." Which makes me think about Eno's use of the DX7. I wonder how much FM he was really using, versus using the 6 operators in a more additive manner? There was that one DX7 algorithm that had the 6 operators in parallel, with feedback around one of the operators. With the types of complicated feedback pitch shifter / reverb algorithms that Eno used (and that Shimmer implements), a simpler timbre can help keep the overall sound "under control."JediMind wrote:Like I was saying, sine waves.
I can also hear that the single pitch shifting mode is used, rather than singleReverse. The single pitch shifting mode is closer to what Eno would have been using, in that it emulates a "deglitched" pitch shifter trying to lock onto the period of a reverbed feedback signal, and failing miserably. The result is a bunch of random sidebands, which can turn simple sine waves into a sound that is somewhere between an orchestra and filtered noise.

I've never heard any music quite like this. Most of the ambient metal stuff I have heard skips straight from Black Sabbath to grindcore/stoner, and then goes in either a more minimal or more druggy direction from there. Your stuff is definitely strongly NWOBM influenced, but with this big ambient wash in the background. It kind of reminds me of a metal version of "Rated X" by Miles Davis, where the active foreground is always threatening to disappear into this inactive, BIG space that is hanging around the edges. Nice work.metalifuxx wrote:http://dl.dropbox.com/u/6185854/Andy%20 ... est%29.mp3
