The Hoover is indeed a PWM sound, but it's from the alpha Juno series. The Juno 60 does not have an unison mode (maybe the Juno 106 though).
However the Hoover is precedet by the unison feature of the Jupiter8 which afaiaa was the first popular polysynth to sport unison.

Hi,
The Dominator Hoover sound by Human Resource was from the Alpha Juno 2

RobAlthough the original hoover sound was created with a Roland Alpha Juno2 there are several replacements to choose from that include, but are certainly not limited to, the Alpha Juno 1, Alpha Juno 2, MKS-50 (Rack version of the Alpha Junos), and the JP-8000. The new Roland Juno G has a few presets that feature the Hoover sound

I disagree, I think it sounds much, much better than anything from Superwave.mkdr wrote:This sounds like the Superwave synth. Did you use that?Urs wrote:If you excuse my crappy playing, what do you think?

Is this close enough to a JP8000? Or do you think it's still too much of a difference?
I do have a JP-8080 and this sounds eerily similar. I look forward to hearing more, Urs.

To be honest I think Zebra can already do much better than your example...............

Thanks! I'll hopefully have more soon!A.M. Gold wrote:I do have a JP-8080 and this sounds eerily similar. I look forward to hearing more, Urs.

I'm still waiting for someone to insist that it sounds nothing like a JP8000. But that will probably not happen. Maybe because as every 2nd note in the example *is* a JP8080 and only half of them are that softsynth experiment. So I guess, at least for short notes: Mission accomplished

Damn that's cheating. You must tell us so we can tell the huge difference.Urs wrote:Maybe because as every 2nd note in the example *is* a JP8080 and only half of them are that softsynth experiment.

It's different. Wait till you hear it more detuned and in stereo. Sounds better than Eleven with a trivial sawtooth IMHO.Teksonik wrote:To be honest I think Zebra can already do much better than your example...............

Tricky, Urs, tricky.
Well, there's your eerie similarity, so I guess my ears aren't failing.
But the mere fact that no one screamed "hey, that's two different synths!" must be a good sign.

I meant to say a better Supersaw sound not necessarily a better emulation of the JP 8080. 4 Osc's in Eleven mode?Urs wrote:It's different. Wait till you hear it more detuned and in stereo. Post your sound demo on this midi
http://electrofresh.com/midi-12986-down ... _blue.html
Arpeggio melodies are only way to demostrate superwave sound. I'll waiting. Remember do some filtercut off etc..
Edit; seems to be bad programmed midi, anyway, here is the orginal song

Well, everyone should know by now that I love my a/b comparisons with hardware synths. So why tellA.M. Gold wrote:Tricky, Urs, tricky.

Indeed. But the mere fact that no one screamed "hey, that's two different synths!" must be a good sign.
I must admit though, it only works for short notes. With longer held notes it's easy to spot some subtle differences such as the brighter tone of the softsynth and a slightly different "beating" of the fundamental frequency. I havn't yet bothered to place the phases of the subsaws correctly.
I find though that the spectrum of the sawtooths is well matched, and some superficial stares on an oscilloscpe unveil a stunning resemblence.
Nonetheless, my algo aliases a bit more. It's almost as if the Rolandineers had known of miniBLEPs 5 years early. I'll get that fixed.

Well it's a given that without some kind of D/A emulation you are going to have a brighter and slightly more "raw" sound from the software. Or are you already incorporating converter emulation into this?

what about using an analogue modular system to re-create the supersaw.
Would this give a good result ?
Best
