Aha!!! You knew the answer all along! So this wasn't a proper double blind test?!?! You could have unconsciously influenced us. Buhu , scientific fail!!!Urs wrote:Maybe because as every 2nd note in the example *is* a JP8080 and only half of them are that softsynth experiment. So I guess, at least for short notes: Mission accomplished

So you want to nail JP-8k supersaw oscillator along with its 2 slider parameters ? It will be in zebra as extra oscillator with those sliders as knobs ?
IMO you should look at synth1, i owned JP-8k and i compared them many times and decided to sell Roland cause synth1 supersaw and some brass type sounds were so similar it wasnt even funny .. BUT there was no match to bass and mid range ,synth1 has very weak bass range and its supersaw isnt as big unless you duplicate bass notes and throw them octave lower in piano roll.
---
Anyway , i remember bringing this detuning subject in sylenth thread and also ,im not 100% sure i think i had smalll similar chat on zebra forums with you,but i dont know if you remember,it was long tim ago but maybe its still in my posts in history.
Anyway im glad you want to do this, would be nice to have exact emulation without phasing effects and weird behaviours.
Synth1 is usin only one knob but Ichiro really really nailed it perfectly IMO.
--
You should play some midis with chords and some with single notes, maybe ill find something good(midi file) to test this Roland detune.

Oh dear, now we've brought Synth1 into this...

But what would really stir things up would be if Urs came back and sheepishly admitted that his example was actually three synths in succession---his own, the Roland, and....
Synth1...

Not much like a JP8000 but it's my favorite Supersaw sound/vid.

Video above didnt had supersaw sound so i dont get it ,maybe its time to start behave and help developer instead of linking to favourite vids ?
Where is the joke in "synth1" word ? I dont get it, did you A.M. Gold actually had Roland JP-8000 that youre behaving like that ? If not then please stop.Thanks.
Anyway i made this midi and (not really useful cause its with 1 knob and you probably want 2 sliders like in roland ) mp3 with synth1.
IMO people who didnt really had JP-8k should really not post here at all if they want to turn this into offtopic, but that just me knowing KVR a bit.

This is to test supersaw i changed detune in mp3 like you can hear and i put arpeggio melodies along with chord melodies to be able to tell if its similar to JP on single notes and on chords.
I have mp3 of my JP-8k but not on this hard drive but i know that it has more mids and bass but this doesnt matter here cause you want to get DETUNE (responsible for detuning saws)and MIX knob(responsible for amount of saws)right and duplicate behaviour.

Yes, I have a JP-8080, and yes, I think it sounds better at just about everything than Synth1.bwwd wrote:Where is the joke in "synth1" word ? I dont get it, did you A.M. Gold actually had Roland JP-8000 that youre behaving like that ? If not then please stop.Thanks.
Just, IMHO, YMMV, etc. Never been a huge fan of Synth1, though I think it is generally a good synth and a very good deal, since it's free.

OK so lets help Urs duplicate its 2 sliders ,can you run midi that i posted through your roland and post result ? While sweeping between supersaw amount and supersaw mix values with silders of course .
I didnt pushed synth1 to the very end of detune i did just most important amounts IMO and swept through them.
But 8080 and 8000 are identical i guess and he has his one, maybe its not needed but it will be good for people to hear comparison.Without delay.

I sold JP-8k but i know that synth1 is no match, besides Roland JP-8k is not only supersaws ,feedback osc is very nice fo guitar patches too and it has great bells/pads.I just sold it cause i didnt used it that much i got used to fast work within my host and i got irritated when i had to record roland every track separately as wav.But synth1 similarity with shome sounds was also big factor when i decided to sell it.

Ha ha, truth is mine isn't hooked up right now but Urs has his own JP so if he thinks it will help, I'm sure he could do it.
I actually haven't been using my h/w synths that much, mostly out of laziness, and have been relying a lot on s/w and things like Omnisphere. I do need to get the JP back into the game soon, though.

tbh with the whole supersaw/hypersaw/ubersaw, i'd love to see a definitive softsynth that was capable of the supersaw (JP80**) hypersaw (Virus) and ubersaw (not yet created) sounds with some amazing filters.
In terms of effects to match, most ppl have seperate verbs/delays etc that they'd wanna use, so a CPU friendly sawmachine, that didnt care if it was analog or not would be amazing.
But for this, I liked that .wav posted up, had a nice sound but for single notes even then was a tad thinner, as for it being an emulation I can't tell.

when i think of super saw, i think of about 50 different saw sounds.
there are no rules to supersaws as such.
why do you need 7 detuned saws for goodness sake.
why not 30 detuned saws with unison ?
like a jet stream saw
there must have been one person who created the first supersaw. I reckon that person did it in 1991 also.
or maybe it was Roland
