Hi Mihai,

Thank you for sharing, and the demos sound great, but my version of Kontakt (v3.0.2) won't load the .nkis Which version was used to create the files?

Also, would you consider making the samples available separately? There are lots of people round here who use other samplers (sfz player, shortcircuit etc.) and it might be useful to have mappings for them.

The answer is yes, yes and yes
Now seriously, the version of Kontakt was 4 and those will load into the latest player version but play only for 30 minutes.

Samples will be made available separately together with the .nkg files (separate layers) but until then you can "steal" the samples like this:
- Get the latest Kontakt Player
- Right click on the instrument's name and "save as"
- You'll get a message like "You are saving a demo patch. While recall work the patch will time out... bla bla bla", click ok.
- choose a new separate folder where to save it.
- choose the option "patch + samples" (the patch is saved as "monolith and this option will put the samples into a separate folder).
- TADA !!! you have the samples.

The samples are named with the vowel and put in order (named as marker1, marker2...etc).

That's interesting, I didn't know that. (I don't know much about Kontakt Player; I've never bothered with it 'cos I have the full version of Kontakt). Thanks for the tip.

Well, with my budget, I can afford for now only the player/ free version sorry, I meant
Anyway, with the constant increasing number of freebies (Komplete player/ free, Yellow Tools Independence free, Shortcircuit, Papelmedia soundfonts, UVI Workstation, Cakewalk SFZ, Tonehammer freebies, Pettinhouse freebies... etc) all musicians can afford to produce their favorite music.

Love the vocal sounds. Using the mod wheel in Kontakt 4 player to learn how to change sounds. The demo actually times out at 15 minutes. Keep up the good work!

Well, try then the Mu.Lab version. No time outs, you can assign any controller to each separate vowel and also you have each separate vowel as a patch together with the "mux" patch, the device that control the crossfading between vowels and create the "speech" patterns.
Mu.Lab free is limited at 4 tracks but you can route a single track to several devices (synths) so, it's not really 4 tracks, can be much more but you have to be creative.

It's really awful to gripe about something that's been lovingly made and distributed for free, but... I noticed the female Ahh sound on G4 has a slightly out-of-tune warble at the beginning - sounds vaguely Arabic!

I'm sure that you're talking about the Kontakt patch.
There are some other notes as well with this portamento like start. For some might be more "lively" for some might be not very good. I'm in the second category, so in the Mu.Lab patch that I made, I cut the start a little:

I don't know much about programming Kontakt (the Kontakt patch was made by a friend) but I'm pretty sure that you can do also this.

I set up the Mu.Lab version, loaded Ave Maria session, and everything is working. Interesting program. I see four tracks in the Ave Maria session. 1 and 4 are midi tracks while 2 and 4 seem to be controller tracks. Could you please give a quick explanation of how these four tracks were created? Thanks!

I'm using a M-Audio Radium 49.

All I have to do is to right-click on the vowel button, choose "map MIDI controller", move a little a button or a slider of my choice and that's it.

If you don't have controllers on your keyboard, you can simply automate the parameter with your mouse.

Tried your suggestion and was able to use the modulation wheel to record a midi controller track. Deleted one of the tracks in the session to make room. My modulation track doesn't affect the voice ensemble sound so I still haven't figured this out. The program is pretty deep. Basically, what controller is being used in tracks 2 and 3 for the Ave Maria session? Perhaps this will help me get started.

Mod wheel works as a vowel changer only in Kontakt patch. Works fine in Mu.Lab as a controller, but if is not assigned to anything, then Mu.Lab will just record the MIDI input but this will not change anything.
On my keyboard I used the rotary knobs (9 for A-E, 13 for AE to IO, 10 for I-O, 14 for AEIO-U). There is no difference what knobs or sliders you assign, but you have to assign them to a specific function (right click "Map MIDI controller").
