Welcome to OSC22 … the first OSC where our featured synth has been chosen by OSC voters, and that featured synth is GTG's NR2010.
If you have not tried this synth out already, go get it … now! I have a good, good feeling about this comp having played around with NR2010 … Where has this little beauty been hiding all this time?? …. Well, the answer is …
… here! .. http://www.gtgsynths.com/plugins.htm … what are you waiting for?

As well as a first, this OSC will be a last. This is the last OSC I will be running. It has been a difficult decision, but one which was inevitable due to other commitments. However, I am very pleased to say that the OSCs will continue in the capable hands of V'Ger. Of course, I will be around to offer assistance and co-operation as required.

Anyway, enough about me and V'ger, …. on with the comp :)

Create a track using only NR2010 for all the sounds, including percussion!

* * * * * * THE RULES ( please read fully) * * * * * *
The track can be made in any host.

All the sounds in our tracks will be created by NR2010

* * * FX * * *

NR2010 has some great internal FX, but I know you all have your pet plugs you cant live without, so I'll restrain myself and not impose heavy limits which will only make you want to cheat :hihi:
So …Fx are limited to Delay ( unmodulated ), static spatial ( reverb, ambience, ADT etc ), dynamics ( comp, limit, gate ), EQ ( inc. exciters etc ) and stereo fx ( pan/autopan/width enhancers etc )
If in doubt, give us a shout.

..... Important!......
Other than the hosts native EQ,
All Fx used must .....
**be freeware, and easily available via download.
**generally usable in a wide range of hosts
**not be used in such a way as to transform the sounds to a degree
which makes them unrecognisable as those achievable from NR2010
..... otherwise you will be held face down in a basin of earwax until write 'I must not cheat' 100 times, legibly, on a marshmallow with a blunt pencil!

.... Fx footnote .... it is a generally held view that in the spirit of the comp, although we all like to create and hear well produced tracks, we should use as few Fx as we dare! ... with NR2010, this should not be difficult

*** There is no track length limit.... but be aware of the prevalence of ARISTOTLE syndrome ( All Right, I'm Suddenly Thinking, Ouch That's Long Enough )

* * * * * How to Submit your Track * * * * *

**** Finished tracks, in mp3 format, should be uploaded here ...
http://soundcloud.com/groups/kvr-one-sy ... -1/dropbox

All tracks, and info re this and previous comps can be accessed on the dedicated OSC site here...
http://sites.google.com/site/kvrosc/home

For the sake of clarity, name your track in the following format ...

.... Title of Track - Artist Name ( in that order pleeeze! )

When you have successfully uploaded your track, announce your submission in the thread, and give brief details of what you have used ( host, how many instances of Chimera, which fx, how many instances.. etc. )

**Please do NOT post separate, external links to tracks you wish to be included in the comp.

CLOSING DATE for submissions is Sunday 28th November 2010

* * * * * How is the comp judged? * * * * *

The comp will be judged by the votes of KVR members. Depending on the number of submitted tracks, the voting may take the shape of a single vote poll, or a more flexible multiple vote option.

The competition was launched at 12.40, and you submitted a track at 1.44???? :shock: :-o And I thought I was fast...

Post

I've alerted Mik (GTG) re. our choice of synth.

Post

I must admit I've lost a bit of confidence in my music of late, due mainly to the long break I had to take this year, but I think I'll do my best to come up with something this time for Mik - whose synths I love - and for Tattie - as a way to say thank you for all he's done for the OSCs and therefore us.

Mac, you are fast - but your tunes are LONG! :D Maybe that's the difference here...

Just kidding, buddy! - you haven't submitted one of your half-hour masterpieces for quite some time now...

Post

Since osc 17, I think... so, in order to make up for that, I'll submit a two-hour track :P :hihi: :hihi: :hihi: :hihi:

Post

No probs, as long as you tell me which 3 minutes you want me to judge :hihi: :hihi: :hihi:

Post

The first, the one in the middle and the last one :P :hihi:

By the way: is a tape delay vst allowed? (I'm not sure what you mean by modulated delay)

Post

Mac, I took 'modulated delay' to mean a delay which has a 'chorus/flanger' type of effect on the delay signal.

Post

Oh, I see... in that case, I can use it - good, thanks :)

:( That's definitely a shame Tattie, but all things have their time..

With the new system synth selections are now known for months in advance so no surprise people have stuff ready before official launch, surprised not more songs are ready really.

Post

Yeah, faster all right, heres mine :) ... this one might surprise you all ... done in one shift! ... normally I would wait til tomorrow and do the 'fresh ears mix, but I'm soooo bloody happy with this one :)
