Indeed. If I were to design a synth structure, it would pretty much be exactly what is shown here for ElectraX (One layer of it of course... )

I'm just curious about the sample loading functionality. Any comment on this?:
Is it only vocoder/resynthesis of samples? Or can you load the sample just as a sample? Can it pitch without the length changing (ie. timestretch?) or any kind of granular like functionality?

thanks

Post

Sadly, I can't comment on the sample loading functionality as I haven't used that part of the synth in my time spent with ElectraX. It really is a deep synth, and I never found a need to touch samples. Hopefully other SDs or Tone 2 will pop in to explain this subject.

Well, yes, and it was sarcastic at best. No need for such 'tone' in a conversation.
Oh geez... don't get sanctimonious now... you called me silly cause I made a suggestion of getting Kore... which of course is a fine suggestion directly addressing the functionality being discussed. It may not be a suggestion that you agree with, but it is a viable alternative.

But if you boil down the conversation to how many seconds it takes to do this or that, then I'm not interested. You do not see how a layer system can be beneficial to your working method, and that is fine ! Move on.
You claimed it was much faster so I tested my method and lightheartedly challenged you to do the same. Now you say you are not interested cause basically I proved my point and you don't want to admit it... Okay, let's move on...

What are the other oscillator types?
Can you import specific layers from a preset? Like I want to import Layer 3 from preset X into layer 4 of my current preset?

I just noticed this, and it looks very interesting indeed.

Would someone in-the-know care to elaborate on detailed specifics regarding this feature, please:

What I'd like to know is if it loads single waves and/or wave tables?

It seems to load both/either... I would like to know the 'nature' of the "wavetable" structure required, and how it "reads" them.

It can use single cycle wave files as waveforms for the oscillator, so you can build your collection of custom waveforms.

Put your waves in the wavetable folder and then you can access the waves from within the synth :)

Thanks... what is the prefered length (samples) and sample-rate of the "cycle" used?

I have many thousands of "custom waveforms", being able to use them without another modification for (yet) another synth, would be novel.

Thanks, again... So this takes individually selected "waves" and creates "wavetables", which I assume it can save/render, and reload?

How many waves constitute a "wavetable"? Does it read "loop-points"? Does it read both ways? Interpolation? What is the file size limit per sample (wav)? What bit-depth/sample-rate, and can they be mixed/matched? Is there a limitation on the total number of samples in the "folder"?

etc., etc...

awwwwww

me wanna now

I still havent found a reply about the randomizer which is a thing Markus does at its best imo. If its included also in ElectraX i cant see a single reason why that synth shouldnt be on my daw.

If you can do audio rate modulations and it uses little cpu, are there quality settings so one can render at a higher quality?

Also, the synth info mentions completely new oscillator types besides the usual stuff... what are they?

And what is the Fractal synthesis?

And is the Arp polyphonic?

Post

Hmmmm single cycle waves only? I'd much prefer full multisample soundsets such as Wusikstation employs or sfz support.

Stop misrepresenting the flow of our conversation! It wasn't about Kore!
It was re the layers in ElectraX and your workflow in Live. Please read carefully. Your reply was silly and sarcastic, something I wasn't expecting from you:

Wow!! That is an amazing synth... It just magically makes presets and nobody has to spend any time at all making them... Seems like that is gonna put you sound designers out of business! :-o :o :-o

I will definitely get it if just the barest thought and a new preset just appears ready on the track and it is exactly what I hadn't even yet thought I wanted!
I thought of you as one of the more level headed and wise contributors to KVR conversations. It appears to me that my conversation with you is now done. Thank you.
