Fantastic delay, had loads of fun playing with this last night. Thanks a lot Bootsie!

Just a couple of criticisms about the GUI, which looks incredible btw. I think it would look a bit better if the shadows and the glows were dialed back just a little bit. Also the VU meter is misaligned a small amount, it's a little too far to the right when compared to the faders directly below it.

thanks bootsie and all who helped with this plugin. it is simply fantastic sounding. As a guitar player I really like this organic atmospheric soundscapes you can build with it.

you asked for examples of (ab)use...
here is a loop from playing around for fun with drums, bass and one guitartrack with NastyDLA.

I still haven't posted clips because I'm lame, but I intend to, damn it.

One thing I just noticed - and it's to my detriment that it took me so long - Bootsie writes a GREAT user manual. Some of the big boys could learn from the clear, clever way he explains the fairly abstract signal modification concepts in a way that is intuitive to the user. I wasn't quite sure how the Ducking worked since I am used to conventional ducking delay rather than a tape emulating delay with an extra ducking feature, but a quick jaunt to the manual told me everything I needed to know. Same with the "| - ||" settings on the chorus and modulation, as well as how the Color knob works. Great, great user manual.

If there was anything I could ask it would be for a little control over the internal chorus algorithm, it seems like it has a pretty prominent chorus or flanger sound especially with distorted guitar and I can't really dial it out. I understand the concept of using an lfo controlled micro-delay to emulate the behavior of capstan and drive motor fluctuations, but I do think it sounds a bit too intense at times and I don't like that I'm not really able to adjust that at all. It's pretty much impossible to get, for example, a well-maintained Roland RE-201 sound out of it because it does so much modulation even when the controls are set conservatively. Which isn't a big deal, I've got my trusty GSi GS-201 plugin for a bang-on "well maintained RE-201 sound" and the NastyDLA gets a great variety of lovely delay textures. Again, a sound so nice I'd be glad to pay for it. Still, Bootsie's one of those devs who listens to feedback and so I figured I'd pitch my one request, which is again some control over the intensity of the basic modulation operation beyond the chorus and modulation knobs. The "tape" characteristics are GREAT, I just don't necessarily want it to sound quite so smeared and phasey all the time. More "at my leisure" than "inherently like this."

Anyway, that is a fairly minor request, and again with a preponderance of nice tools around I'll not be up in arms if Bootsie keeps it how it is. I love the plugin, going to write an article on it for my blog tomorrow hopefully and get some nice clips up to show it off. GREAT tape delay plugin, and free, hard to beat that!

Great plugin, but I've found setting of synced delay is pretty confusing: now all the range is divided to three parts. Actually I'd prefer the way Ichiro Toda implemented in his delay section of Synth 1: all delays, including triplets are gradually incrementing. Well, I can understand that triples are quite different, but making 1/2, 1/4, 1/8 and 3/4, 3/8, 3/16 into different ranges is not the best idea imo.

Also I'd like to have one more knob for moving synced delay slightly out of sync. I know it can be done with non-synced mode, but this way it would be much more handy.

It's rather suggestions, not a big deal, Nasty DLA is already really incredible, especially sound-wise.

Even no matter the price!

This delay is brilliant. Delays can get a little muddy sounding, but this sounds as crisp or dubby as you want.

When Bootsy started putting out his plugs I had a feeling there was a star in the making.

Thank you for all your great work.

Lovin' DLA. It sounds great. Thanks! However, I've noticed one bug. While running Cubase or Live, if I switch the power off and then on, or change the preset while on, I get a buzzing sound. Can this be fixed?

Neither of the Download links work for some reason?

Can't wait to try it Bootsy! The link took forever but now it's really downloading.

DJ_Bach,

Do you have the noise knob turned up? It's up on the default preset...
Play it by ear

Had some issues with the power on/off switch, it can taint the sound with huge loud noise.
The chorus is awesome, I still didn't test the delay properly. May I ask if adding a "reverse" function would be tough? If you can do it, please. It'd be really awesome and we'd have a vintage sounding reverse delay... And of course for me, all the delay tasks would be handled by NastyDLA.

Thanks again for this nice plugin!
Cheers, David!

Even with the noise dialed all the way down, it still buzzes.
