to each his own..... layering is fantastic to me in products like omnisphere....if I buy electraX it will not because it can layer it will be because I like the sound of it.... if a sound developer can create even more unusual complex sounds that appeal to my ear because of the layers even better.. to me.

I consider selective 'copy and paste' of unrelated posts to make a point a personal attack, so before you point that accusation in my direction, I recommend you look at your own actions.pdxindy wrote:Dude, chill out... I mean, you mis-spell my screen name every time... It is pdxindy not pdxingy... is that on purpose or by sheer ignorance? If we go down the road of personal attack, nothing good will come of that...himalaya wrote:That is not on! Is he doing it on purpose or by sheer ignorance ?
Agreeing or disagreeing is not an issue here. I have posted this long time ago: there are various working methods and they are all valid. But once you start posting sarcastic comments and then start manipulating posts to change what has been said in reply to what post, there is no point in continuing the discussion.Let's agree that we disagree about the usefulness of having the 4 synths in one and talk about other aspects of the synth

It's amazing if you think about what 10 pages of discussion/argument would look like in a real life conversion:
"I love that it has 4 separate synth layers"
"I don't care about that, I prefer layering with my host or other utilities which gives greater flexibility"
"Ya I prefer in a single plug-in. Besides not every host has that kind of thing and not everyone has another utility to do it."
"meh, to each their own. Anyways..."

Sure ! and it takes away the possibility of manipulation of what has been said as in a real conversation we can't edit/copy/paste/ unrelated sentences together to prove a point.

It is all one discussion, on one thread... . Your Kore comment is what changed the tone and led to my sarcastic comment, thus I brought it up as pertinent... It was part of the conversation and not unrelated... from my perspective, you are the one being manipulative by focusing on the personal and not talking about the synth because you could not counter my points about it... you said your method was faster and so I challenged you to back that up and you got personal instead.himalaya wrote: Sure ! and it takes away the possibility of manipulation of what has been said as in a real conversation we can't edit/copy/paste/ unrelated sentences together to prove a point.
I think you are upset because I criticized a synth that you like and that you are going to sell presets for and that tweaked you... you are the one not letting it go...

Anyone else who has used the synth willing to talk about it and answer some questions? Is the arp polyphonic? Can you import specific layers from a preset? What are the other new exotic oscillator types referred to? What is fractal synthesis?

He's the one who started the thread.DrGonzo wrote:BTW - Markus from Tone2 - has he left Kvr for good? Would love to hear some word from him.

Although it would be nice to hear more details, I think he's being smart not sticking around. The dude's got a temper and from what I remember, doesn't take any form of criticism well. And in a thread like this where we're being silly and nitpicking on details there's no real point for him to be involved me thinks.
Besides, we'll all have our questions answered soon enough when the demo comes out. I hope it's sooner rather than later. I haven't been this curious about a synth since Alchemy was being released. That was a torturous wait.

Here is a little thread about it on their own forum where Markus replied to a user (in german thoughDrGonzo wrote:BTW - Markus from Tone2 - has he left Kvr for good? Would love to hear some word from him.

Maybe you'll have better luck getting some answers there
I think because the hard times Tone2 has had on KVR in the past they are a bit cautious to get in the often quite sharp toned discussions around here..

Still though, you'd think he be around to market his synth and answer questions though? Actually kind of surprised Bastiaan has been in this thread more(or at all.haven't checked.). Always had a great experiences with him.Nielzie wrote:I think because the hard times Tone2 has had on KVR in the past they are a bit cautious to get in the often quite sharp toned discussions around here..

Very interesting synth!
OK:
1.) Audio demos, audio demos, audio demos. What sounds can you produce with this synth that will separate it from the crowd (the 1000's of other vsti's)?
2.) Will ExtraX be like Gladiator 2, where features in Gladiator 2 are 'unlocked' when you buy additional sound sets?
3.) I don't see HCM on the list of synthesis techniques for ExtraX. Does HCM's absence mean anything; i.e., is ExtraX *not* an update to Gladiator 2 (different featureset)?
4.) CPU load? I use a Q6600 for audio; will I need a faster computer to run ExtraX?
5.) W/no AD's available for the masses, perhaps 12/10 for release is a little too optimistic? Maybe 1st quarter 2011?
Looks great, and good luck!

With various sub topics, various separate points, various issues raised.pdxindy wrote:It is all one discussion, on one thread... .himalaya wrote: Sure ! and it takes away the possibility of manipulation of what has been said as in a real conversation we can't edit/copy/paste/ unrelated sentences together to prove a point.
To purposefully edit one such point into another *is* manipulation. You don't see me do that. Take the hint.
Wrong. I'm simply defending myself against being manipulated by your ignorant cut and paste ethic.pdxindy wrote:from my perspective, you are the one being manipulative by focusing on the personal

That's your imagination, which can not be further from the truth. I'm not upset with having somebody criticise the synth. Criticise it all you want. There are other people in this thread criticising this synth. I don't have an issue with that. I'm trying to defend against my words being manipulated, a fact which is escaping you.pdxindy wrote: I think you are upset because I criticized a synth that you like and that you are going to sell presets for and that tweaked you...
And you have the nerve to keep excusing your manipulation. Amazing...

I have used ElectraX on my Core 2 Duo laptop running two cores at 1.8Ghz, and I was able to have all four layers, multiple filters, lots of modulation, plus effects without breaking a sweat. I haven't done any proper CPU tests, but my overview of the CPU performance was very positive, considering how much sound can pour out of this synth.
