Very interesting. It produces some _very_ spacey sounds when changing the rate while its on an infinite loop. Chorus is very warm and pleasant and some presets hint that this could be used as a great lofi processor.

I'm wondering though, can the rate slider thing be switched to manual time, instead of fractions of host tempo?

Just turn off the little red "sync" lights. Just to the left of the sliders .

I've been playing with the NastyDLA for a couple evenings now. I decided to re-visit an old study project/song and replace all instances of RetroDelay with NastyDLA, and for the first time since i've started working on this song, I have the feeling that i've found the sound I was aiming for. I've bought Gsi's Tape Echo, and realy loved it, but I always missed a Ping Pong delay for that plugin. NastyDLA is the perfect solution for this issue, and has now replaced most of my delay plugins, including a couple payware ones.

Thanks again for this wonderful plugin Bootsie, you've opened up a world of possibilities for me, and filled a huge gap of one last plugin I was missing from my arsenal (a good sounding tape delay with ping/pong mostly).

p.s. please note that i'm not dissing Guido's fine Tape Echo plugin. Quality-wise it's a keeper and worth every cent.

I wouldn't worry too much about NastyDLA somehow displacing Guido's GS-201 or anything like that. Specifically, GSi's tape echo is every bit a very well maintained RE-201 (which was, by design, much less prone to some of the "happy accidents" people like about tape delays, less wow and flutter because of a very robust drive motor design and excellent modular tape cartridges and everything) whereas Bootsie's is really flexible but seems more in the vein of the Echoplex style tape delay, more inherent phase smear and all that. Both excellent tools to have, that's for sure. NastyDLA is just in that different "realm," the more warbly kind of thing.

Use them together for LOVELY results. In parallel, adjusted for the same delay time and feedback characteristics, they sound absolutely stunning when set up so that they start mono and repeats skew left and right respectively. I might record a clip of this in action just because of how nice it sounds. I already did my blog post feature NastyDLA, without clips because while I am loving the sound, I don't really feel like I have yet recorded something that definitively shows just how awesome the sound is, but maybe this could be the cool thing that inspires me to throw down a clip of it.

NastyDLA also sounds great on vocals, with low wet, moderate feedback with a sharp lowpass to catch sibilants, plosives and fricatives in repeats, and minimal modulation it gets a really nice "thickening" effect that doesn't get in the way of the dry portion.

I would like a button to sync the times between the two for the different modes. I know it's not a super useful feature for a lot of people, and syncing them is actually very easy in "Sync" mode, but in the free delay time mode I would like to be able to click a button and have the second delay lane match the first delay lane's time setting. Just a small feature request.

I haven't even really used its input saturation character at all so far. This is definitely a plugin that will keep on giving - as usual.

This is a seriously useful plugin. An amazing sound and a very thoughtful implementation of the effects.

I've actually been using it on top of Amplitube 3 and Guitar Rig 4. Even though these programs theoretically include everything that NastyDLA does, there's a character to Nasty that can't be denied.

I am still conccerned about the slight loss of punch of the signal when using this. im surprised nobody else notices this.

My particular uses actually look at this as a feature. I hadn't noticed that the plug itself is responsible for this, I assumed the FX settings were doing it.

I use it in full wet mode and run it in parallel (with REAPER's lovely wet/dry knob) so I haven't experienced any loss of punch or anything like that. Sorry to be unable to confirm your findings.

how should that happen? The dry signal stays unaltered after all.
