well tomorrow the mick thompson blackout goes in the Jackson

I know it's been a while since I got the pick up but I I skeeved the pick ups out of the Jackson for my Baritone (I call the Jackson my little red sports car because with the mural it's like a mid life thing) I never liked the way it sounded. So the Jackson has sat around with no pick ups for about a year and I can't find my pick up rings for it. Sure I have gold ones but how stupid would that look?

Good ol' guitar parts depot, a buck and a half each (I had to buy a couple more pots to get my order to the ten dollar minimum). I ordered them on Monday, free domestic shipping and of course they arrived today....that place is amazing (link below). Great prices, fast shipping, hard to find parts and they even called me a while back when I ordered the pick up to check up on how it arrived. They are about as far away as you can get from me and still be in the 48.

The Jackson has a tiny electronics cavity so I had to rout a battery box in the back which I did Monday. I was hoping the scar face project would spark an influence in a different direction...now I'm hoping the Jackson will. It plays great, just doesn't have the aggressive tone it's image suggests

Pretty,

Some days I dream of opening a luthier shop. Get a couple of tech's have them assemble and focus my attention to the finish.

I know this local luthier who starts at 1,000 for a simple paint job. His seven coat clear finish is quite a bit more.

A bit OTT on the inlay hibidy, but it looks cool for all that.

I've got a similar neck inlay on my limited edition Richwood Tree of Life LP clone and visually it's stunning, but I sometimes get *lost* on the fretboard, tho' that's partly to to with my being a strictly thumb round the neck player and I tend to obscure the side dots playing this way

Yeah, allot of people have been commenting on that being OTT, but I still look at it and drool. Nothing I'll ever own in my lifetime.

I gotta try and improve my chops on my 6 string bass. So much audio stuff to get better at, the music is endless eh.

Preferably a vintage one, but a new one is ok too I guess. I have a Fender Jaguar Bari Custom which is great, but I do want the real thing someday.

in another thread I posted pics of a similar but imo far better example of such a finish. Yes you can get a carved top like that. Without the inlays I could build as good or better for under 1500 dollars (with all MY choices) and easily could find an artist who does such inlay work who I'm sure would chare far less than 5000 dollars

However, I would have to practice but I'm sure a similar inlay could be done by me using a stencil that I would have my daughter draw. In machine shop my teacher built a banjo with very similar vine like inlay work.

doubtful, I'm sure it has edge dots like a fretless, I never got lost on my fretless

I've got a similar inlay on my Raven West 450 and initially it drove me nuts above the 12 fret. Even with the dots along the top binding. I'd be hypnotized by the inlay.
