Well... this really is insanely handy software. Thanks!g200kg wrote:KnobMan 1.37 Release![]()
One little thing I'm noticing (introduced somewhere between 1.34 and 1.37) is that when animating the 'Angle(deg)' the aspect setting seems to get ignored. This causes big problems on my knobs that aren't 1:1 resolutions.

hi,
That is a bug. Also I found the problem of the 'Image' primitive will not work normal.
I intend to release the fix-version shortly.

g200kg.... just sent a pm to you about a problem with 1.38 and the same problem in 1.37... running on XP SP2...
When saving or save as a knob file, and making changes to the animation degree's for the drop shadow, the changed do NOT get saved to the .knob file...
I have now tried to save them at least 10 different times and in different ways but when that saved knob file is re-loaded the old settings are still there.
Is this just me or is something wrong?
Here is an example:
original setting for drop shadow animation:
from -50 to -45..
OK, then I change that to -50 to 50
Save the file... close and re-open it and the settings still read:
-50 to -45
....some bug in the saving routines????
thanks for your help and for knobman

Thank you for the fixing... I am very much liking to use Knobman and I am pushing it hard to do things it has some problems doing....
I wish I could talk with you by email about this some more....
If you would like to do that, you can get to me with hopi@comcast.net
I think what you have created is a great and unique program... I would like to see it grow and be even stronger!

hello again,
I am wondering about a problem I find when working with knobman. I will try to explain it:
If I want to make a round knob to be exactly 32 by 32 pixels, so it fits into a GUI at exactly that size...
OK so I make a ring or a circle at 100 percent... but this gives 'flat' spots at the top, bottom, left and right sides.
OK to fix this, I have to reduce the percentage to about 90 and also add some difuse [about 27].. that does soften the flat spots but now the knob is not exactly 32 by 32 pixels. You see?
I wonder if knobman could have some way to render out the alpha png files and add some empty padding all around the circle, perhaps about 2 pixels?
That might let users still work with the exact math values inside knobman and then it would create the png file without the images of each frame touching each other???
I realize this is more of a problem when the knob size is smaller [32x32] and not so much of a problem when it is larger [90x90].
Any thoughts or ideas?

I don't mean to be a pest, but I am trying to do what might be not very normal knobs and find a few problems or questions I can't explain.
If anyone can try this you will see what I'm talking about:
set up a knob intendend to be a very small vertical slider. Make it 8 px wide by 50 px tall.
OK... now if you want to make the 'handle' for the slider from two short lines, moved a bit left and right off center and have one other non moving line in the middle as the 'slot' for the handle... say you make a line that is 4 wide and 8 long and move it a little off center [x axis]... make it black or red..
you can see the color of it is not fully strong... it's very faded, yes?
but if I make that same object in photoshop, a 4 px by 8 px rectangle, the color of it is normal, ..not at all faded.
this becomes all the more true in Knobman if this very short line lays over something else.. it is very faded instead of being a full, normal strength color.
OK... next, say I try to work around this by making that object in PS first... and using a png of it in Knobman to be the handle. Now the color looks good but now I can't adjust the motion in the y axis enough to make it move from the very bottom to the very top....
I guess that might become possible IF the limits of the y values could go way beyond the 250 they are currently... I think they would have to go into the 1000 or 1200's.
I can upload an example someplace if anyone wants to really see what I'm saying inside knobman.
thanks for any thoughts and help...
