Welcome to the wonderful world of voting :D

Yup, every month is a difficult tackle.... but that is what makes this so much fun.... Listening, enjoying, participating and voting.....

Purna: very nice! were you one of those kids who didn't say much until you could speak in whole paragraphs? nice melodies and well done

I'm just a beginner/fanboy myself -- never mind the post count, I have been more of a typist than musician, but as you know, you can get a real education at KvR

Garret: so beautiful I got misty ... just from the music not the lyrics, because I usually don't hear them well the first time anyway

Sepheritoh: beautiful as well

You™: clever lyrics and good production as usual, despite the modesty ;)

lsd: program music in this day? ;) actually, that is a very cool piece

Wopelka: in this context, your friend has a little bit of an accent, but it's a "white guy" accent ... still a fun piece though and I liked the classical flava toward the end

Duncan Parsons: very cool and well done -- I especially like the horns and when the EP takes off in the late 0:50s

Ixox: a pro job while retaining humanity -- nice chord changes and tone throughout :)

free translation of the unromantic lyrics:

he: this wrench is crap -- I will throw it in the ocean
she: honey, better take the garbage out
he: can't -- I just took the washing machine apart
she: but the garbage truck is coming
he: if I do it now I will forget how to put this back together

j/k -- but I bet that would sound deliciously romantic in French :D

IanWeb: playful and goodhearted :)

plunge: Isaac Hayes produced by Alan Parsons? ... very cool especially since the liner notes don't mention external instruments ... also nice to see someone new who can read and follow the compo rules ;)

rsmus7: I enjoy your entries -- this one had my head bobbing

beardedone: this had my head bobbing diagonally and in infinity signs ... this jazz has a rare combination of being angular or disjointed while still being nice to listen to ... did you ever get a midi keyboard, or are you still placing notes with a mouse? if the latter, that's kind of mindblowing :D

windchillFactor: for my taste, I would have brought the vocals up a little and subdued the percussion a little, but it was cool enough that I replayed it :)

wilkoryte: :) are you secretly american? those guitars definitely have an american flavor, as well as the vocal delivery even though the lyrics are in French ... very cool :)

Mr.Me: great use of sonic space, placement, decay and vocal delivery plus effect ... well done!

General comments: Yesterday after I posted I caught up on the other entries, and had not even finished page one before I thought how exciting and enjoyable this month was

Even if not everything is to my taste (or if I like it but have nothing to say), it's cool to hear what sounds good to other people and what they bring to the musical smorgasbord

Ogg Vorbis: for some reason this reminds me of the story "Yoh Vombis" by Clark Ashton Smith, but I did not have any trouble playing ogg files in WinAmp v3.0

Vocals: sometimes people make self-deprecating comments about vocal abilities ... ordinary beauty is good! :) ... Rex Harrison managed to talk-sing his way through My Fair Lady ...

 How would you possibly know that? That problem has been troubling me for the whole my life. :D

Yes, KvR is an extremely rich educational source with plenty of ready to help people. I've made my choice! :D

so true
Mystahr wrote:Willkoryte - This is my first introduction to French Rock n Roll..... Supercool man... Nice lofi effect on the opening guitars. This gave me visions of a complete band playing live.... TOPS!
thank you very much for your kind words
and the effort for posting reviews

I take it as a compliment ,many things I like come from USA (or England)
(music,guitars,amps,sequencer...)
I made french lyrics because my english is too limited :)
thanks for your review

Mystahr wrote:Multree - :) You took the advice and used this for the monthly challenge :)... And daring I may say to not add anything and just let the voice and guitar do its splendid work. A tad too roomy on the reverbs I feel, but that's just a minor nit. Great lyrics, and swell melody
 thanks

wilkoryte wrote:I take it as a compliment
it was meant as a compliment, since that seemed like what you intended, and it was done very well :)

did not mean it like on the Iron Chef TV show: "erm, this dish is so american!"

Post

Mystahr and havran thanks a lot for your review...
Thanks also for the nice words.

The lyrics are not secret at all, this is mainly a translation of a text written by Kriminal...

Don't hesitate to read it

Thanks :D . You mean someone else's was (almost) as beautifull

Beardedone - This must be one of the best I have heard from you yet... and I've heard many a good one pass by. That part when the bass comes in at .24 maaaaaaaan, that is one punchy, funky (yes funky too) and jazzy bass. Everything is so incredibly well layered and placed within the arrangement. T.O.P. Production. It reminds me of the Acid-Jazz nights where I'd go and just let go dance-wise.... very tender and brushy drums. I cannot find one nit in here, and I don't want to either....
Thanks Mystahr! Much appreciated :D :D
This makes me glad I didn't scap thsi entry for the other two I was agonizing over.

Cheers,
Gordon

Windchillfactor - I so enjoyed this classical string touch that you added here... that plus the cello brought a very special atmosphere to the tune. I get the impression a bit that you're not so keen on your voice ) a bit mumbly and a bit put back in the mix.... yet there is the distinctive quality in the tone of it. It reminds me in a way of Nick Cave. The growl at 1.09 is cool.... Could you post the lyrics in the gossip thread?
Thanks for the nice words and sure: This Autumn words

Mystahr wrote:Rsmus7 - Really weird... I had the idea as if the bass-end of the tune got sucked in, instead of giving a big punch.... and in the beginning in the right channel the sounds seem to be distorted a bit. Did you perform a huge delay on the kick with some weird FX or something... I keep turning it up, trying to find out the secret of the tune... Hmmm, I'll keep an eye out for what the more trained ears are saying about this... One thing you did succeed in; you got my full attention on this one :) And yes, the Depeche influence is clearly there....
Thank you Mystahr.
You´re right the bass comes unexpected in. I think it is like in "real life", most of the time the unexpected happens.
And yes I used a lot of FX and delay.
The Depeche comparison is nice, thuogh it was not intended.
