Nope, at home I am a "jeans and t-shirt" kinda guy! The stage getups are really just an extension of the characters I write about in my lyrics. I am heavily influenced by not only LPD, but old Genesis, and these things pop up in my stage performances. Wait until you see what I have cooked up for the "Ticktockman" when we perform that song! And, yes, the title IS influenced by the Harlan Ellison story (which author is, by the way, one of Edward's favorites, too).

BEWARE THE WORK OF THE DONKEY TUGGER!
He's a secret agent who planted the idea to start this thread in Poweruser's mind long ago...He's using this, the "What we eat", "What we drink", "the gallery", and "What we like" threads to compile dossiers on KvR peeps!
The other thing that many don't know though is that he's actually a triple agent working for a deeper cause to guarantee we'll all be identifiable and on the guest list when the mothership arrives!

a : who am i / what have i done ...
I am a 28 yr old research scientist at a biotech company. Unlike many people here, my background is as unartsy as it gets. As an undergrad, majored in chemistry and minored in Physics and Mathematics, Masters in Physical Chemistry, PhD in Chemical Physics and Biophysics. Been married for 5 years to someone with a background in science and the arts (graphic design and watercolor + biologist + computer programmer).
b : what do i do at the moment ...
As I said earlier I am employed at a biotech company. A large part of my work involves algorithm development for the large scale prediction of protein structures. Get to do a fair bit of bioinformatics as well
c : what is my goal in life ...
Realistically: Be part of a project that results in a cancer therapeutic.
Utopia: Solve the protein folding problem
Non-work related: Keep working at becoming a better person and a better husband. Become good enough at music and recording to play some gigs, write some quality songs, do some quality production work.
d : i am interested in ...
Books: Ayn Rand, Aldous Huxley, Tolkien, Asimov, Nevil Shute
Music: Progressive rock, jazz, jazz-fusion, blues and blues-based rock
Computers: Linux-related geek stuff

Yowza! This is gonna take some thought...let's see now...
a : who am i / what have i done ...
I'm a 39 year old software engineer specializing in web developement and design, very happily married (just celebrated our 4th anniversary).
Outside of that: recording and performing music (natch) takes up most of my free time...been playing keyboards since I was 7 (started out on classical piano), play guitar and bass (fretted and fretless) and sing.
I'm also involved with several long-running weird film/video projects, such as this one, providing the music, doing some graphic and computer animation work, and occationally acting.
I've been playing live in bands professionally since I got out of high school, doing both original music and the dreaded cover-band thing. Right now the only live gigs I do is purely for fun, with a surf-centered classic-rock cover band that I've played bass, keyboards and guitar with for about 12 years (we put out one CD back in the mid 90's....the singer wrote everything, didn't sound too great and is best forgotten ). Quite a bit of a stretch from what I usually like to write and play, but I've always been a surf-instrumental fanatic, so...
I've recorded on several albums in the past, usually in multi-instrumentalist mode: of note the dreadful one my current band put out, and a synth-pop album with a singer back in the early 90's that was fun.
b : what do i do at the moment ...
Aside from the "day gig" mentioned above and the live gigs with the cover-band: I'm currently working on two separate recording projects. One is my own "solo" material (prog-rock/EBM/industrial/goth/metal hybrid...kind of) with me doing everything, and the other is a fairly goofy-sounding synth-pop duo (me on the instruments, and the other guy singing).
I'm hoping to have CD's released for both projects sometime soon...
c : what is my goal in life ...
Got a few:
* To finally buy my dream-house: a lake-front home in New Hampshire
* Record and release all of the music I keep hearing in my head
* Lose weight and get in better physical shape.
d : i am interested in ...
Like Scot, I'm also quite the sci-fi fan: I enjoy reading and collecting vintage science fiction and horror books (Ellison, Leiber, Bloch, Niven, Le Guin, etc) as well as watching and collecting such movies on DVD.
I also enjoy writing , graphic design, 3D animation, traveling, hiking, kayaking, raquetball, and.....well, you could always just go here and check out some more of the gory details.

a : who am i / what have i done ...
My real name is Bruce Satinover, I'm 46, have M.S. and can't get around much anymore. Previously I was a musician and sound engineer dealing mainly in sample design and synth timbre programming, scoring for video, games and multimedia. I finished my university degree about a decade ago majoring in computer music. I was cofounder and left two large sites between 1995
to 2000, midiworld, http://midiworld.com and Artistlaunch www.artistlaunch.com which I recently resigned most duties although I still write reviews and work with my ex-partner. On good days I can still play decently. My main instrument is guitar although I work more with synths as they are easier to play. I also play bass, percussion and sing. Sometimes I DJ shoutcasts.
b : what do i do at the moment ...
Demylinate (medical humor), try to get out and about whenever possible, play gigs whenever possible, stop and appreciate things I didn't bother to appreciate in the past. I'm looking for a job where I can work at home. Anyone want to hire a verbose occasional malcontent that
can't always work a fixed schedule?
c : what is my goal in life ...
Enjoying myself. Make music and try to make independent music a better place for younger musicians. This is why I was involved in a midi and mp3/broadcasting site. I donate time, I have a lot of it to donate, working with homeless and high school kids on how to create and produce music. I engineer and produce gratis for the homeless kids living in shelters. My goal is to stay as healthy as possible so I can torture the small audience that knows of me with the strange little CDs both my band and I put out.
d : i am interested in ...
Music of course, teaching synthesis and new music technology when I can get a gig, writing fiction, reviewing software and music. It's hard to read but I can still write. I like helping people and feel it's redemption for being a startlingly good and sometimes less than humanitarian businessman. I like working with programmers usually as a person that brings ideas to them with the hopes they can realize them. This includes brainstorming, some user interface and graphic design. I have been fortunate to meet and work with lots of talented people this way. I also enjoy internet collaborations, the two I am most proud of are: http://artistlaunch.com/band20 and http://mp3.com/heyfrankie a tribute to Frank Zappa working as the arranger of strange material sent to me from eight other musicians also contributing lyrics, guitars and loops. Previously I have worked with other artists to donate compilation discs for emergency aid and medical research. This is something I consider a duty besides an interest.

Har...
I am with you on this remake of "The Lathe Of Heaven". The first version was SO good...However, James Caan would make a particularly sinister Dr. Haber, dontcha think? It might have been funnier to get Bruce Davison to play the Not-So-Good Doctor...A&E, huh? Well, they've done a GREAT job with the Nero Wolfe books, and it DOES lend a respectful air to the novel...I will be thoroughly bummed if the aliens don't look like odd geometric turtles...God I loved those designs!

Hmmm, left school at 18 f**ked around for a year working for me mates dad doing building stuff. Went to University at Leeds, did a degree in politics (did me loads of good that, good for arguing in pubs tho, "look mate I've got a degree in this so I know what I'm talking about!") . Twatted around Upon the dole for a year, went to work for the Natwest, then Barclays, was really ill with clninicla depression for year but lived. More up to date got into doing voluntary work for a local organsation. For some reason they wanted me to work there and put me on the board of directors! And then I got this other part time job teaching this ere music tech thingy!
Hmm, goal in life, basically to be happy! Once you've seen the worst of me , come on and see the best of me oh baby (nice lyric that!) Oh, that and to infuriate musical purists and snobs, and destroy the capitalist society by next week sometime.
Interests: Fecking loads, Beer, cricket football, books, comedy, farming(nah skip that one!) politics, the ABF (well someones got to discipline em!), Guns etc, etc etc!

kevvvvv's 52, has 4 kids, a mortgage, school fees, and endless relatives in a huge extended family.
Last night was my 14th anniversary with Linda, my wife, business partner, and light of my life.
As a corporate video/multimedia/web producer I'm lucky enough to get paid to write soundtracks. This pays for the music kit and the endless releases of new VSTIs which we're all supposed to buy.
I like new music the most.
I've been a member of the Transcendental Meditation community in Skelmersdale for 15 years, which makes me a loony to some people, and a bigger loony to others (think so?)
Teens and twenties was all music college, drugs and drop-out stuff (been there, seen it), and generally running away in search of the number 42.
Thirties was all about career and getting it together, and trying to out-yuppie the yuppies in London's West End (swimming pool, fast cars, champagne).
By 38 I dropped out of all this and set up a studio in the sticks (still going).
KvR was an amazing discovery for me, with all these musos into the same stuff I was.
I love it here.
