not sure I follow you... or you follow me :wink:

I keep my VSTi's in their folder name to clean my VSTi folder (and recall the version number...). Normally it should not be a problem.
So, I have :
C:\VST\Phenome1.64\Phenome.dll
C:\VST\Phenome1.64\Phenome\config.txt and other stuff
I've got only one config.txt file.

:shrug:

Should it work like that ?

cheers
Phil

Yes, this way it will (should) work :)

Post

well, it doesn't work.

I've tried the dll only, nothing to do. Always the same error message.

I've copied PhenomeData under C:\ and it works fine. But, I don't change the config file, which stays to G:\PhenomeData ...!
Seems that the dll doesn't care of the config file !!! :wink:

cheers

I have also try your suggestion Dennis but unfortunately...

:lol: Damn! This can't be!!

This really can't be. Mhh. Now i have find the solution for this problem. Here it works when i change the config file to e.g. D:\SuperDuperSF2\PhenomeData and install the Presets there ... :D

But then the question is: Why does it work on other User's Computers? Some of them also changed the default PhenomeData installation, changed the config file and were lucky... weird!

My config text file:
G:\Bank\Library\PhenomeData;
G:\Bank\Library\PhenomeData\Factory A\_Soundfonts;

Hope that help you Dennis.
Stupid question: Do you *really* use the latest Phenome DLL? Version 1.64?
Please verify and right-click somewhere on the GUI...

EDIT: And also the latest Factory Library (Installer)?

hehe... some of us have haunted computers...

:lol:

I have another computer where C: doesn't even exist, so I guess it doesn't worth to install... :(

good luck Dennis ! :hihi:

When something like this happens then its most likely because of "old preset format". (SF2 information was stored absolute, e.g. C:\soundfonts\thesoundfont.sf2"). Then with latest Phenome it would mix up to like e.g. "F:\wantTheDataHere\PhenomeData\C:\soundfonts"....

The new FACTORY presets only contain "folder information" like "FactoryX\_Soundfonts\one.sf2".

Root of the filepath is taken from config.txt e.g.:
"G:\MySounds\PhenomeData;"

and combined inside the plugin to e.g.:

"G:\MySounds\PhenomeData\FactoryX\_Soundfonts\one.sf2".

Hope that clears things up :)

I tried the new DLL file, it sets up just like you say it should, and I even reinstalled the Factory A Library (just to make sure), but I still get the same error box!

When I click the UI in the VST box within the DAW it indicates "Phenome v1.64" so I know I'm using the latest version (right from your latest RAR dll download).

Any ideas why it won't work?

Can you browse on your disk to where you've installed the Factory Library and click one random factory preset (*.PHE)-file and look into it via a text-editor?
(Theser are plain txt files).

The first three lines should look something like this:

0
Factory\_Soundfonts\Beeper.sf2
16

And you edited the config.txt accordingly to where you've installed the library (if not C:\PhenomeData by default)? :-)

EDIT: Just checked it again. I installed Factory to:

C:\testingonetwothree\PhenomeData

Changed the config.txt in vstplugins\Phenome to

C:\testingonetwothree\PhenomeData;

Launched Phenome - works!

:?

In one of the next updates i will make this process easier. Sorry that this is so troublesome :) In the future you launch Phenome, locate your PhenomeData folder once, and then you're set. Promised.

I read your post and deleted what was in the config file so that "C:\PhenomeData" would not be added to what was in the PHE preset file, and it almost got it there except it still put a \ before the correct path name. I even tried moving the config file out of the Phenome file and it produced the same results. I put everything back to where it was originally and still get the same error.

Now I read your last post and in the PHE files it shows c:\PhenomeData\Factory\_Soundfonts\FDanceKitA.sf2 on the first line. So, that seems to be the problem!! I'm not sure why it's working on other computers??

So, can you fix the PHE files to read the correct way?

We're getting closer!

Thanks for testing and helping!! :)

Oh, could that be a language/locale problem perhaps? :-o

It should be: (underscore) _Soundfonts!

But nevertheless, there shouldn't be an absolut paht information inside the PHE files. So no C:\whatever.... just "Factory\_Soundfonts".

And also important: When typing in the path to PhenomeData in the config.txt, dont add a backslash! ( \ )

Right: C:\myfolder\Phenomedata;
Wrong: C:\myfolder\Phenomedata\;

No, it is _Soundfonts...that was just an error when I wrote the post.

OK, So when I deleted the c:\PhenomeData\ from the first line of the PHE file it actually works!! :love:

Put me on the payroll! :hihi:

Anyway, so can you revise the files to take that c:\Phenome Data\ off the first line of all the PHE files? Then, I think it should work for everyone.

Yippieh!! :hyper:

Well, actually... all PHE preset files should only have "Factory\_Soundfonts\Whatever.sf" in it (in the latest Installer) -> http://www.prodyon-virtual-gear.com/dow ... _Setup.rar

I have not the slightest idea how this "c:\Phenome Data" got in there :shrug:

Could you try downloading this latest Installer again (if not install it into a temporary folder just to check if the PHE files are correct). Then you can simply copy all the presets to the Factory Folder where you installed it before :)
