I am with you on this remake of "The Lathe Of Heaven". The first version was SO good...However, James Caan would make a particularly sinister Dr. Haber, dontcha think? It might have been funnier to get Bruce Davison to play the Not-So-Good Doctor...A&E, huh? Well, they've done a GREAT job with the Nero Wolfe books, and it DOES lend a respectful air to the novel...I will be thoroughly bummed if the aliens don't look like odd geometric turtles...God I loved those designs!

I first heard about this remake this weekend when I friend of mine mentioned he saw a "Lathe of Heaven" billboard on the local interstate...

Interestingly: the first thing I thought was that this was the remake that Bruce Davison had actually mentioned in an interview a while ago! He said he had actually been thinking of shopping around a script to make LOH a feature-film, and Kevin Conway (the original Doctor Haber) said that he would love to get involved with it if possible. So I thought "Aha! Davison finally got it off the ground....cool!!"
But then I read that article... dashed hopes. (not to mention: I don't have cable so I won't even be able to check it out!)

But...you're right: Caan might make a pretty cool Haber....hmmmm. And chances are Davison is busy working on the next "X-Men" movie...

But absolutely: gotta have those giant upright turtles!!

Who are we ? What we got ? Are we a firework show ?
Growing pale like a star that burnt out years ago
Stranger things have been, stranger things have gone,
I find it hard right now to name you one
Tell me do something true and drop the fairytales.
If singin' birds must sing, with no question of choice
Then livin' is our song, indeed our voice
Best agree you and me we're probably nightingales

sorry, couldn't resist, given the thread title..

I work part-time at the library, have my own little ebay business, just started up Astatic Records, do the books for a couple of small busineses, and am apart of a very promising art gallery(not painting, but involved in the business side)

my goal is for Astatic Records to some day work out, and i also hope to be involved in another sucessful small business in the future. in all i do though, i hope to show others i come into contact with, my faith in God...

i think the above sufficiently shows my interests

There's quite a bunch of eclectic old farts here, eh?

Me.... 37 yrs, started at med school - did too much beer and dropped out after 3 yrs...dole and bugger all else for a while...became a nurse, met loads of mad psych nurses who probably f****d up my thinking with too much psychobabble but also gave me the insight not to compete in the rat race, did too many drugs, ODed and a brief spell in ICU put me on the right track.... got into music, released a couple of times in Northern Europe - made little or no money, but been there done that, got the records on a wall and happy to do it as a stress-reliever/happy-maker nowadays....got together with my wife Jaine and f****d off to New Zealand and never been happier since. Shall never return to live in dreary old UK.

Aims... to visit every South Pacific island with an airport (part way there already)...to work even less than I do at the moment and end up in a beachfront house maybe on the East Cape possibly start up a small vineyard (part way there already)....compose that killer track that would be a world wide hit and have the knowledge that nobody but me and maybe Jaine will ever hear it.

Philosophy?....There's nothing in life that a beach won't put right.

Sorry this is a bit long...

Was sent away to school aged 8 (seriously) and had to grow up surrounded by nauseating happy-clappy Jesus-in-your-heart born-again basstard christians (just the faintest feeling of deja vu developing here tonight). Somehow survived until thrown out at 16. Did A Levels at tech in Cambridge to use their electronic music studio (pretty rare at the time - ay you youngsters don't know yer born!) EMS VCS3 and that sort of thing (i.e. Squids' front room).
Need to eat after that led to collection of bizarre jobs/money generation schemes. By the time I get to 21, can just borrow enough money to buy my first keyboards (first one being the very first PPG Wave2 in UK). Worked for 6 or 7 years in London..touring here and abroad, recording, blah blah..working on various projects with various people, some well-known, others (thankfully) not.
For various reasons drifted away from that when I met Mrs deW in Cassablanca (of all the towns..etc). Had a pretty successful phase designing and programming various database systems on a freelance basis for a few years, but started to drive me insane. Mrs d. being a violin teacher, I drifted into teaching kiddies to play the piano, absolutely loved it..took the Royal College ARCM teaching thing externally..and here I am..teaching 5 days a week..3 outstandingly civilized children (8,6,3)...stress-free (if hand-to-mouth) existence...the only thing I ever have to worry about is donks making me feel guilty about not getting around to writing any music...

Goals...sounds nauseating, but really to bring up 3 happy, balanced, generous-minded atheists ( )......but having a house with loads of space and lots of rooms where I can have my toys and play undisturbed is the dream.....plus the common KvR dream to write that one perfect album that would support you (and my friends here natch ) financialy the rest of your life...a longterm aim is to spend at least one day in the next five years without checking KvR.
Oh yes, I'd love to live in New Zealand too.

Interests...well GIFs of course...sooo many other things though (I'm a happy dilletante like many here)..donkey-tugging of course...improving my piano playing is a lifetime's interest..recently been accompanying singers a lot (Schumann Dichterliebe concert approaching fast)...

..arghh enough!..anyone still here...hello?
