Does sound a fair bit like gladiator, but I find that's the case with many specific vendors products, like the Arturia synths have a similar quality, the u-he synths, the korg ones, camel, even gforce a bit. Every developer seems to have a unique flavor the runs through their synths. This one does a distinctly G2-esque sound already, but with the dual filters and the straight forward fm between oscs, and loading your own samples and resynthesiszing, I think it will let you take it in a pretty different direction. Not to mention mono legato...

I says that it will come with 4 skins but I only see 2. I hope there's at least one skin that's not cheesy 3D.

Looks like they're all 3d, just difference in color schemes. Btw, there are three on the product page. The two black ones look more similar but one has a touch of orange, the other has red. The red one also uses less color, which I like better.djanthonyw wrote:I says that it will come with 4 skins but I only see 2. I hope there's at least one skin that's not cheesy 3D.

This is just one person's opinion. Every person has a right to his or her opinion.
IMO, the audio demo was not impressive at all for my needs: I listened twice. It has a lot of saw sounds I've heard before, whistles, video game sounds, warbles, various sound effects, etc - basically not much I could use for my music, actually nothing at all.
However, this synth still could be a gem. IMO another demo should be made, but taking a different approach. How about concentrating on categories of sounds that are essential to almost all music?
1. Leads: show me a number of unique, wonderful sounding leads. (My yamaha
xs 61 has at least 50 great leads.)
2. Pads: want to hear at least 5 haunting, addictive pads.
3 Synth strings: like to hear at least 3 or 4 beautiful, lush synth strings
4. Electric pianos: Like to hear, 4 o 5 beautiful sounding electric pianos
5. Bases: have to hear a lot of bases, unique ones. I think the demo did have one or two. Need to hear a lot more.
6. synth brass, or variations of brass sounds.
7. Other synth sounds that are useful for basic tracks in a song
8. Choirs: Can it do choirs? Realistic, ear-catching, choirs.
After obtaining some of the above, then you can apply some of the creative effects, for example, a beautiful unique lead with a slight wah-wah or warble, and of course a nice echo, or chorus, or delay.
For my needs straight out whistles, video game sounds, and sound effects are not useful. I will be looking forward to more demos of this new synth.

More background: Pads: from the demo, I heard little of the tonal sound quality of Omnisphere, or Zebra, nothing even close to my Yamaha XS.dhalfen wrote:+1olepro wrote:How on earth can you say that !

Where are the lush, beautiful strings or choirs? Ever hear Omnisphere choirs? They are outstanding. The strings on my Yamaha XS also outstanding, as are the bases. Sylenth also has a lot of beautiful sounds. Knock me out with haunting, beautiful patches that I can use in my stage musicals, or in the studio. There isn't a whole lot of use for warbles, or video game sounds in my music. It's just my opinion, which is dictated by my needs.
I'm hoping this synth can compete with Zebra, or omnisphere. Time will tell. The sound geniuses out there will no doubt come up with great stuff, assumming this synth has all the capability as advertised.

Sounds pretty good to me. A bit warmer than Gladiator 2.. but that might be the headphones I'm using or their production. I happen to dig their sounds and pretty much all their sound design.

A recent thread got me thinking about layered or layering Kicks, something I am not good at. I think I would dig a set or some included sounds that do a few of those, you know the usual, 808, 909, Linn, DMX, etc… one of each. No, seriously though I would love to hear a designer layer some kicks, low, mid, high, and sub. I think this synth has the ability to do four layers. That would be fantastic, I think.

@zerocrossing ...nah mate, you're hearing right, it's definitely a bit warmer than Glad2. Gladiator is pure digital crisp to the extent that the top end can get piercing and brittle (which, as I noted earlier in this thread, isn't necessarily a bad thing).

Sounds like you need to wait for the ElectraX demo itself and not worry about Audio demos.............That's the only way you'll learn if this synth is right for you and is in fact exactly what I'm doing..............

It's quite possible that ElectraX has no desire to compete with any other synth but instead strives to explore new sonic frontiers.........if that is indeed the case then I welcome it with open arms.............diggywidit wrote:I'm hoping this synth can compete with Zebra, or omnisphere.
