For some reason there's always a delay before the uploaded or shared file will appear in the OSC group player at SoundCloud.
I don't know why it's like that, but it could be the cause of the troubles you and others are having. So basically it should be enough with uploading once, just have to wait ~20 min for it to appear.

Yeah, it's the multi-core problem. NR2010 was not compiled with the latest version of Synthedit, which would have solved the problem.paterpeter wrote:Is anybody else experiencing massive CPU spikes and drop outs every ~15 seconds in FL Studio when using multiple instances of NR 2010?
I am sorry about this because the submissions I have heard so far a very good indeed.
I am planning on re-compiling all my plugins with the multi-core fix, but I guess it's a bit too late for this competition now.
Hope it is not too much of a problem for most of you. (I am still on a single-core computer, so fortunately I can run many instances of Synthedit plugins.)
Again, sorry about this folks.
Keeping an eye on the competition with excitement
Cheers.
Mik,GTG Synths.

my second (and final) entry is up:
"Fractured Planet"
Mike777 (aka Michael John)
It's the year 2160 and we're on a rescue mission to save the inhabitants of a beautiful earth like planet that has developed a huge fracture, which is now very unstable...we have rescued all the survivors and are flying over the surface on our final survey, before returning home...
Made with 4 NR2010's in Sonar 8. No effects except from the synth. I have a single core, no problems. Composed on 11/19/2010

Looking forward to entering this one. I'll even promise to vote this time. Unfortunately, I had to sit the last one out because Chimera kept making my computer catch fire!!
I've only just got round to checking out the results for the Noisemaker OSC and was surprised to see that I actually managed to score. So I'd like to extend a (very) belated thanks to mrblitz000 and olikana (especially mrblitz - 10 points, I'm amazed).
Maybe I could even have scored a few more points if I'd managed to mix the damn thing properly. I just gave it a listen and it really is dreadful, the bass has just gone completely AWOL.
I've got an awful lot to learn about these music making shenanigans!

I've just noticed ugly compression glitches in my audio... Hihat has a weird low frequency holes (i.e. at 59.1 s hole in the spectrum between 1200 - 3000 Hz). It causes audible beeps. As suggested I uploaded mp3 compressed at 128 kbps CBR (LAME default settings) because I wanted to avoid recompression by SC. Is there any way to make quality a bit higher at/than 128 kbps? Or is there some kind of compromise you use to make listening to your audio more pleasant? I wish default rate was between 160 and 192 kbps...

Reuped - and seems a bit better now...

Hi all,
Haven't posted in here for a while but it's good to see the One synth challenge still going..
Just thought i could add another prize for this months challenge, i know it's not much but i can donate/buy one of these synths in the link below worth $49.99 to the winning track if you like
So take your pick from this lot:
http://www.korguser.net/shop/software/
Iv'e just picked these up myself and they rock, espescially Mono/Poly and the M1 but of course you can choose any one of the synths listed as you prize.
Thanks and goodluck
Rob

Very generous, thanks Rob.
Dwsel: I think that's the best way, but isn't there a high quality setting when encoding? i.e. 128kbs CBR slow or something like that?

I couldn't find in Audacity options such a setting or place to put LAME's additional options, so I've finally used standalone LAME encoder with switches:V'ger wrote:Very generous, thanks Rob.

-b 128 -m j -q 0
That gave better quality (at least without glitches). I'm sorry for spamming the thread with my Soundcloud/encoding problems... I mark both of them as solved.

Not spamming at all, this is very relevant especially as there's been some comment about SoundCloud's player quality degredation lately.
-q 0 : "use slowest & best possible version of all algorithms"
Yes that's the one I meant. It shows up as an option in Reaper's Lame encoder GUI.
-m j : joint stereo
"JOINT STEREO is the default mode for stereo files with fixed bitrates of
128 kbps or less."
So it seems this line is unecessary for the 128 encodes.
Here are all the switches and explanations for everyone who have to do manual encoding, I might put this up on the FAQ on the site also.
