Here is a RIP (from a dj set) for those who don't know this track :
http://www1.zippyshare.com/view.jsp?loc ... y=96411155
I tried to play it on the piano. Tell me if I'm wrong :
Left hand plays :
B G# A
B E A
right hand plays the melody (the guitar in the track) : D# E C#
More exactly (D# B E C# A C# A C# A)
I try to understand how the song is written, it's like he plays the root key with left hand (bass) and the right hand plays the third note of the chord...
(??!)
here are the chords, and here are the notes played
B D# F#
G# C E (except this one, he plays the fifth...?)
A C# E
Am I wrong?
And what's the scale of the track? I use it : http://www.looknohands.com/chordhouse/piano/
but can't find any scale where there are all notes played

i dno (and i didnt listen to the example beacuse im listening to an awesome song right now
) but if i put all the notes you wrote down in order that would make
c# D# E F# G# A B right? that would make the key c# minor or Emajor depending on the feel of the song
edit; also, dont overthink the whole "he plays the third over the root, then the fifth..." After seeing some vids about axwell & SHM i'm pretty damn sure he doesnt know the first thing about music theory, he just plays what he thinks sounds good, and so should you (yes, it's the awesome "there are no rules" advice
) but seriously, if you pick a few chord progressions or a melody to start with and just follow your ears i'll bet you'll end up in some key (or something that makes sense theory-wise) eventually without overthinking it like that ... unless you're completely tonedeaf ofcourse

Why and How did you come to that conclusion??After seeing some vids about axwell & SHM i'm pretty damn sure he doesnt know the first thing about music theory
I believe all those guys uses diferent voicings on diferent octaves, I am not refering to this music.
I believe it has to do with mixing as well.
I saw some chords like root+fifth+third and it sounds good, I don't really know the theory behind this.

i bought a CM or FM magazine a few months ago and it had a dvd with it where they talked (read: bragged) about their hit "ONE" and I seem to recall them litteraly saying they didnt know (much) music theory
