Any way that I can beam this thing back 5 years in time???

(IOW -- oh yeah, oh yeah!!! :hihi:)

I'm just surfing the presets and making tweaks, of course -- man, you guys have done some LOVELY work here!!! :D

(And I'm not normally much of a "presets" guy. :tu:)

Well i learned alot from the man himself Wolfgang Palm during the beta/sound design as i never owned a real PPG like some of the others but it's just got to be one of the best, if not the best synth i ever worked with..then again it's a Waldorf so you know it's gonna be top notch..

Im gonna be doing some more sounds for it in the new year.. will include samples too. :)

^^^ By all means, bring 'em on!!! :hihi:

(I mean, Largo's a class-act all by itself, too. Speaking of sets... :hihi:)

Well i can say that the samples are all from Blofeld/Largo and Attack.. so it's all still Waldorf sounds going to be in the PPG.. it's a tedious and long process sampling grrrr.
So you'll have all the Waldorf synths in one come new year hehe.

Edit: yup, everytime I try to change a preset it just crashes. I get the spinning beach ball..
Hi penguinfromdeep,

just stumbled over this message from you. Bad to hear that you get crashes. Since I'm only on KVR every half a year or so, could you please send an email to me directly on wmf @ (our domain name) to exchange some more infos, i.e. a crash log, the Ableton Live version you use etc.

And for sure: the info if the VST behaves better than the Audio Unit.

And to reply to dhalfen: the Audio Unit is not wonky, we just had two cases where the Audio Unit variant of the plug-in was greyed out in the installer. A restart of the Mac fixes that. We have no idea why this happens, maybe it's some access permission stuff though this doesn't explain why it works after a simple restart.

Thanks in advance and sorry for the problems,

Wolfram

I guess I won't be trying this.
At the end of the install, it gives me the message.
"The installation "failed", please contact the developer".

Anyone else have this problem?
I'm on a macbook pro 2.88

Maybe I'll email them.
EDIT: I got it to work, but very strange this.
Must restart. Start e-licenser and must be connected to the internet.
They obviously have issues regarding macs, as stated above.

I know what my next purchase is going to be to go with Maschine when it integrates vst's.

Can't wait for the Rob Lee presets as well.

Will download the trial.

Somekind of tutorial youtube video would be nice about programming and basic concepts. No problems with front panel but when loading init and tried to do nice preset I managed to do only crap :) I was quite lost. To me most of the default waves sounded so harsh and I could not tweak them to sound good? So, what a hell rob and co. are doing right? :) I had blast with some oldschool ebm preset basses...instant pouppee fabrikk nostalgia. I want more but I am afraid that programming this is too much for me... Maby I just did not get the basic concept?

:tu: Combined with the filters, the nasty aliasing sounds like magic! Now I understand the complaints about later Waldorf gear sounding too "nice" :D

Peace,
Andy.

This is a wonderful synth. Potential is unlimited.

100hrs.... only 100hrs ???? i shall have used up all my demo time before the weekend even comes ! god damnit !!! this is the single most impressive emu/synthesizer ever made imho ! so musical, with such character ! so far, utterly stable on my system btw (within Cubase 5.5, Ableton 8.2 plus standalone on Savihost). and those waveterm samples !!!! oh boy !!!

But what's the difference between PPG V3 and Largo?

Post

mr palm, mr stenzel, add the wavetable creation and you will have a major hit on the market, maybe the best synth ever :)

here he goes again :)

This demo...the AU crashes Live8.1.4, and Gargeband5 (edit: it seems to be working fine in Garageband now) EDIT: (GB crashed again, about 10 minutes after opening it) on my macbook pro running mac osx 10.6.4.
It does not crash Live, but gives me the "endless" spinning beach ball of doom.
Then force quit.
Restarted, but that didn't help.
One crash happened less than a minute after opening. The other crash happened about 5 minutes after opening.
The VST works well.

Other problems are, with certain presets listed here:
RL: (leads) Big Fat Mono and Classic Old Skool Techno
MJ: Anvil

They suffer from notes sounded, cutting off short from what is recorded by midi.
Meaning the notes stop sounding when pressed, even though they have full sustain. I have midi and mp3 files to upload later to understand this problem better. (just need to transfer them to my pc for uploading)
This was noticed after only checking out a small percentage of presets.
No telling how many more are like this.

Hope you'll get these crashes and preset issues worked out before release.

Thanks for the demo, as the vst works at least.
