I didn't mean to be flippant. To someone who hasn't followed the PPG V3 news, it does look like they have a very different appearance but offer the same type of synthesis. What's wrong with the presets? Sound just perfect here.mcnoone wrote:This demo...the AU crashes Live8.1.4, and Gargeband5 (edit: it seems to be working fine in Garageband now) on my macbook pro running mac osx 10.6.4.
It does not crash Live, but gives me the "endless" spinning beach ball of doom.
Then force quit.
Restarted, but that didn't help.
One crash happened less than a minute after opening. The other crash happened about 5 minutes after opening.
The VST works well.
Other problems are, with certain presets listed here:
RL: (leads) Big Fat Mono and Classic Old Skool Techno
MJ: Anvil
They suffer from notes sounded, cutting off short from what is recorded by midi.
Meaning the notes stop sounding when pressed, even though they have full sustain. I have midi and mp3 files to upload later to understand this problem better. (just need to transfer them to my pc for uploading)
This was noticed after only checking out a small percentage of presets.
No telling how many more are like this.
Hope you'll get these crashes and preset issues worked out before release.
Thanks for the demo, as the vst works at least.

You should better take a look into the PPG Wave 3.V manual which was installed as a PDF. It explains the main concept of a wavetable synthesizer as also the special concept of the PPG Wave 3.V.Mac Hine wrote:Somekind of tutorial youtube video would be nice about programming and basic concepts. To me most of the default waves sounded so harsh and I could not tweak them to sound good? So, what a hell rob and co. are doing right?
I had blast with some oldschool ebm preset basses...instant pouppee fabrikk nostalgia. I want more but I am afraid that programming this is too much for me... Maby I just did not get the basic concept?

I believe it's related to how the synth is programmed relating to note on/off and note priority, only happening with mono-single poly mode presets.
To understand this problem further you could visit this thread and read.

Here is a different version of the second demo from the link above. I used Alchhemy's Spectral engine and substituted the filter with the D-Pole filter from the Waldorf Edition. Now i know why i always liked those Waldorf filters...Ingonator wrote: I'll start a commercial soundset sometimes this week...
It will contain new samples for sure. For that i'll use some others synths like e.g. Alchemy. I just had a look into the spectral synthesis.
Here is a demo of one of my Wavestation samples from the PPG Wave 3.V factory content used in Alchemy (with the Spectral editor...):
http://rapidshare.com/files/432230271/W ... tral_1.zip
The first file is the original sample imported into the Spectral engine of Alchemy, in the second the spectral content is changed.
This was just a test, the samples in the final bank are different i guess. Maybe i'll provide some samples which are based on my PPG 3.V factory content as a free download or with the next official update.

I'm quite sure now i'll use the D-pole filter for creating new sample content for the PPG 3.V.
In this example the "Resonator" filter of D-Pole was used. in comparison to other filters those Waldorf filters could produce a "crystal clear" sound opposing to the "muffled" sound of some other filters...

The Audio-unit version doesn't really work in Ableton Live on Mac (sent report to Wolfram) but the vst version works just fine. So far I'm really impressed by this synth! Really a step (or two) forward from the previous PPG. Juicy! Will buy it definitely as an early christmas present for myself
circuit modeling and 0-dfb filters are cool

Really? What's your setup? I get the spinning beach ball when changing presets, and at least one other person in this thread experiences the same ...ouzoman wrote:AU and VST working great in Live 8.2.1!

my apologies for the early enthusiasm . . . the beach ball started showing up, settings would change (with the GUI updating slowly), now after 10 minutes it's stuck in the same preset and nonresponsive
Back to the VST . . .
Works well in Logic 9.1.3 though - no beach ball and just as responsive as the VST in Live!

The AU crashed immediately on first preset change via the GUI in Live 8.2.
Works better in Logic, but did notice after flipping through around 20 presets the "Next" preset button on the PPG GUI got stuck, and the plug-in proceed to load every preset in succession until the end of the list.
This is on OS 10.6.4. The VST version appears to be working fine though.
Otherwise: congratulations for releasing such an amazing sounding plugin / emulation. Really stunning work
Peace,
Andy.

I couldn't reproduce this bug in Logic, I tried flipping through the presets back and forth for a long time.. If you can reproduce it, mail to Wolfram about the details if you want..ZenPunkHippy wrote: Works better in Logic, but did notice after flipping through around 20 presets the "Next" preset button on the PPG GUI got stuck, and the plug-in proceed to load every preset in succession until the end of the list.

+1 -- just to totally agree. It'll be freakin' PERFECT with "quick & easy" (cheap & sleazy?Buka wrote:mr palm, mr stenzel, add the wavetable creation and you will have a major hit on the market, maybe the best synth ever
