yes, using the Arp Mask parameter. HC does not have the fixed note sequence settings you find in traditional arpeggiators, like UP, DOWN, ... Rather it lets you mask the input chord so that only some of the chord's notes are sent to the output.

The trick is to modulate this mask using one of the LFOs. For instance, by modulating it with a sawtooth LFO wave of a suitable amplitude, you can make the arp mask vary from note 1..4, corresponding to an UP pattern.

I admit it requires a bit more work to get that right, but on the plus side, it makes it possible to get very interesting and unusual random/cyclic variations in note masking.

PS <teaser>mucoder is still alive and since a few weeks -touch wood- even working again on stuff...</teaser>

Oh you tease...
I continue to enjoy Tonespace and would welcome the next iteration. I visit periodically, just in case. I wish you the best.

Thx Paul! Some activity has indeed been spotted in the TS dept. :)
But don't expect major new features yet, the first step will be a complete rewrite of the original TS, but now as a cross-platform version.

Glad to see you working on your fantastic plugs again mucoder! Hypercyclic is pure awesomeness! :)

great to hear there is some new development! programmers interested in music theory applications are few and far between.. keep it up!

I apologise for the long wait but I'm happy to say that a new tonespace 2.0 beta release is finally ready! :hyper: And it's available for Windows, OSX and Linux this time - all freeware.

The beta is currently still private. If you are interested in becoming a beta tester, just send me a PM and I'll send you a link for download. (Warning - it *is* a beta so there are likely still stability issues. If you prefer not to live on the bleeding edge you better wait for the stable version :-) )

That's great news mucoder! Will there be a Hypercyclic 2 as well?( :hyper: )

might release a 1.x bugfix update to hc and add some "free benefits" it gets from sharing an engine with the new tonespace (eg padsynth)

apart from that: yes I have ideas for a 2.0 but gotta go up to the surface for some air first... ;-)

That's a great news !
I dig HyperCyclic (but i find a bit annoying that the buitin synth is ON by default).
Thank you for workig on it again :)

2.0 has been completely rewritten from the ground up in order to become cross-platform (one reason why it took so long, in case you wondered ;-)).
New features:
  • * Cross-platform support: Win32 (VST, standalone), MacOSX (VST, AU, standalone), Linux (native VST, standalone)
    * No host required: Standalone executable version for all platforms
    * Generates its own sound! Integrated synth with PADSynth algorithm
    * Quick start: Demo with built-in midi tracks
    * Extra chord assist modes: play chord unrestricted (anywhere in grid), play restricted (chord root note must fit scale/key cell) or play filtered (chord notes not in scale/key are filtered out)
    * Better control over mouse cell triggering: retrigger notes when dragging across cell border, hold notes when dragging (use this with midi input) or hold notes until next click
    * Hypercyclic and tonespace now share the same underlying modular engine
