Waldorf PPG Wave 3.V Released- Demo Available (eLicenser)

If any one else is having a problem, I managed to install it on my mac by going through the elicenser application before installing the PPG.

i dont know whats wrong with dis filter in 3.v
2.v sound better on some patches to me....listen for yourself....(patch and automation are the same on both)

1. 3.v is much much brighter
2. 2.v kind whistles more pleasantly on resonance sweeps
3. 2.v lows are somewhat more nicely tuned, for lack of a better word
4. 3.v lacks the nice whistle when u fiddle with the resonance(emphasis)
5. 3.v - and where are the lows on this patch?

just compare the two and see for yourself
dont get me wrong, some presets on the 3.v sound great but im not that impressed as i thought i would be
...nice patches from mr. palm, love them the most


i will investigate more, interesting stuff ...

A bogus for me. Nothing. Nada. Look at screenshot. Obviously my time and zone are just fine.

That's the last time i am trying this "e-licenser thing". I've never had any issues with syncrosoft usb dongle but this is different.

I enter license code, i am at download license window, i press "download license" and i get this error. Oh boy..

I'm a bit puzzled. Did you try restarting your computer and activating the PPG Wave 3.V again? If that doesn't help, let me know, since then I have to contact the eLicenser guys to suggest a solution for the problem.

Hi Wolfram! Here is a quick update. After checking every kind of firewall, virus protection and going here and there i almost quit doing this.

Then i checked my Time Zone and...i've found that someone or something (application or whatever) changed my time zone to....Canada I know that elicenser said it in the first place but i just checked time and i was sure about time zone.

Kinda stupid but i swear i didn't change that to Canada (i am from Europe).

After i adjusted this to my Time zone it all went fine. License is downloaded and plugin is running.

Anyway...Amazing plugin..just amazing..

You do know there's different settings right? For different sound quality you have 2V 2.2 & 2.3 settings.

The combination of digital waveshapes and analog filters of the PPG was responsible for an unparalleled fat and thrust boosting character. This has been very accurately recreated in PPG 3.v up to the smallest resolution of detail. With PPG 3.V, it is actually possible to switch between several version of the original. Besides PPG Wave 2.2 and PPG Wave 2.3,
PPG Wave 2.V and their subtle differences in aliasing and other sources of harshness are adjustable.

Waldorf PPG Wave 3.V is capable of delivering up to 256 voices of polyphony, depending on the host computer. Each voice offers two Wavetable oscillators with optional sample playback with either 8, 12, or 32 bits of resolution. Samples can easily be loaded by Drag & Drop. An 8 part multimode allows multisamples to be used with the same charme and ease of use that the original offered.

Sound is further shaped by a selectable 12 or 24 dB lowpass filter, which is an authentic recreation of the classic PPG Wave 2.2/2.3 Filter, followed by an optional overdrive for extra fuzz. Besides the LFO, three envelope generators serve as modulation sources, either for the original rude or the contemporary smooth modulation.

yep Rob i know the facts and set up 3.v to play in 2.v mode but the filters are different to my ears at least on this patch i uploaded...
3.v is sooo bright an kinda static and predictable, its hard to explain, its more or less a subjective thing while the 2.v has a kind of analog quality, unpredictable, warm in the lows, whistling highs...and i mean pleasantly warm and whistling, very musical while 3.v is just flat and surgical
as i said i will investigate more to find a balance in the 3.v couse judging by some presets( yours included ) u can get very nice sounds out of it

Buka: I'll just tell you that except in the low frequencies, 3.v's response is amazingly much like that of my Microwave (which sounds very similar to WAVE in most cases), same with this sample. 2.v sounds nothing like it. In WAVE as well as Microwave when you use such an extremely high amount of filter resonance, it takes over everything and usually not in a desirable way. Regardless, it sounds much better than 2.v overall, the oscillators actually sound like the real thing. FINALLY, after 20 years, they did it! 2.v's oscillators are an undefined, smeared mush. 3.v is the real sound, just how it's supposed to be. The filter doesn't sound as good as my Microwave's, but it sounds GOOD. Again, finally.

i never used the real thing so ill have to bealive you on that one
to me that 3.v filter could be improved especially in the low registers even though on some presets bass is great?! filter inconsistency


anyone know how can i change wheel motion on the plugin, so only dragging a knob moves it and not the clicking around the knob? thanx

I used to borrow hardware PPG Wave 2.3 from my friend often (now broken). I've played around also with PPG 1020 analog synthesizer (built 1976), now that was an interesting beast Anyway, to my memory I don't think the Wave plug-in could be closer (the earlier 2.v of the plug-in left something to be desired when I made comparisons).. The filters sound like they should. Just JUICY!
