I think they'll do better overall with a more moderate price like that. (Wasn't it posted as 129 or something for a brief while on KVR and then removed, maybe just an accident).
I hope you are right :)

Somehow I think it will be the same price if not even more expensive than Gladiator 2. Tone2 haven't released anything (aside some soundsets) the whole year, maybe even last year too (don't remember exactly). So I guess the development of this synth took quite some time. And these costs probably will need to be paid back..

But then again, maybe they have side incomes from development for other companies that I don't (need to) know of and they can/will release this synth at a very competing price :)

Poly-Ana hits a "sweet spot" at $180 -- not too high, not too low.

And the new PPG Wave 3.V, at a "full price" of 169€, will be just a bit over $200 with current Euro conversion rates.

Each one is worth more than their respective prices, to me.

Somewhere in that neighbourhood would be most appropriate for ElectraX, IMHumO..... Though a lower "introductory price" for the first weeks/month would guarantee a quicker sale to me! :hihi:

(They could recoup the "savings cost" with preset packs later. :D)

The PPG does not have a wavetable editor. You can still import it into the PPG samples but must all have a certain length. As examples, the Waves of galbanum not work in my demo of the PPG. By ElectraX you can play all of samples and waves. No matter how long and what format the Waves. The sound quality is absolutely brilliant. No Alliasing. For this kind of sound quality, the price is justified. I've been working some time with an alpha version and am very impressed by the sound.

Update:

- The Mac version is finished.

- The demo version for PC and Mac are finished.

- 64 Bit version and standalone version are finished.

- Everything seems to be stable.

- We plan to release ElectraX on Wednesday, December the 1st.

---------------------------

Q: When will it be available?
A: We plan a release on December the 1st.

Q: How much will it cost?
A: We'll annouce this soon.

Q: Will i be able to load my own samples?
A: Yes. Just klick on the 'Quick import sample' button and select a WAV file.
ElectraX automatically creates a patch with the desired sample for you.

Q: How does the vocoder work?
A: You can build your own patches with custom vocoder sounds. Klick on 'quick import vocoder' and select a WAV file with some speech or a drumline. ElectraX will auomatically create a custom vocoder sound. You can play it with the keyboard.
It is not necessary to route audio input to ElectraX to create vocoder sounds.

Q: What does the analog knob do?
A: It controls the degree of analog behavior for the filter types.

Q: Do the filters support self oscillation?
A: Yes. The analog modeled filters support self osc.

Q: Where can i find more info?
A: http://www.tone2.com/html/electrax_synt ... st_au.html

Q: Is there a demosong available?
A: http://www.tone2.com/Tone2_ElectraX_Synthesizer.mp3

Hi , will there also be an option to use ElectraX as an effect insert? Or only .wav importing?

Cheers

ElectraX is a fully featured synthesizer. It is not an insert effect plugin.
From the technical side it would be possible to have also audio input. The engine could handle this. However most hosts can't do this properly or it is very complicated to setup. I personally prefer the one-click solution with ElectraX.

If you are interested in a easy-to-use vocoder to use as an insert effect you could give Tone2 Waveverb Multi-FX a try. It also can handle Midi input. You can find it here:
http://www.tone2.com/html/warmverb_vst_ ... nthes.html
A demo with vocoder sounds can be found here (it's the same vocoder as in ElectraX):

Sorry to be a bit Off topic but i'll respond to this here:

1.) The Galbanum waves work in the PPG 3.V, you have to use the right setting for the loop (LOOp ON and loop end to the maximum). I'll try to use some of the waveforms for my next PPG 3.V soundbank.

2.) a request for a wavetable editor is already in the database for the PPG 3.V beta tests.

3.) In the PPg 3.V you have four modes. True PPG off with full quality and three True PPG modes (2.2, 2.3, 2.V) with different quality settings.

4.) You could use samples with different length and formats in the PPG, in some you have to set the root key and loop settings yourself. One of my samples for the factory sounds is around 10 or more seconds long. I haven't tested it myself but i heard once of problems with samples over 10 MB. I'll check that. Since only the left channel of a stereo sample is used you could use Mono samples to make the file smaller.
An improved sample import with better root key detection for example could be part of a future update.

5.) Even without samples or a wavetable editor you have 120 wavetables at the moment which should be enough at the moment. If wolfgang Palm finds some time maybe some more will be in future updates.

6.) For using multisamples you could use the multimode with it's zone settings and save this as a fxb file. Some examples are in the factory sounds.

7.) You could import Waveterm B image files in .WTB format. This is possible with e.g. the Waveterm c from Herman Seib:
http://www.hermannseib.com/english/synt ... avesim.htm
http://www.hermannseib.com/waveterm/

I haven't tested the wavetables of ElectaX but for me the PPG 3.V is still the master of wavetable synthesis, together with some other Waldorf synths. On the other hand both synths are difficult to compare IMO.
