so an impulse response is appropriate for deriving the function of any linear system, yet people are taking IRs of all kinds of nonlinear, dynamics oriented hardware. is this ~"best we can do"/"because we can" ideology?

..the answer may not be for several more chapters

you come and go, you come and go. amitabha neither a follower nor a leader be tagore "where roads are made i lose my way" where there is certainty, consideration is absent.

if you go on the (unproven) basis that 'they' (whoever they might be) are only ever taking one IR per device, i guess they'd be deriving 'a' function then, rather than 'the' function.xoxos wrote:..the answer may not be for several more chapters

An idiot on Set Theory:
"In some cases there is an object called red that contains everything that is red. In much the same way a pot is a plate."

you wouldn't care to rephrase that without an apparent assumption that i hadn't considered any possibilities beforehand, o one for whom the lights shut off, which wouldn't be because someone with a telephone was watching you come down the road, or is diminuation an inherent part of your charm/the package?
:/

whyterabbyt's answer was entirely reasonable. If you were to take many IRs with different impulse levels, then you should be able to characterize non-linearities as well, right? Make a 3D dataset instead of the just a single 2D one.

Isn't that what Focusrite's LiquidMix does? At least that's what I recall reading.

it's the conversation over a duration of exchanges: maybe his tone plays for scholastic camaraderie to you, to me it's unnecessary and insulting to suggest that the unknowns and generalisations needed to be clarified as such, as if i would never have realised without him. shrug.AdmiralQuality wrote:whyterabbyt's answer was entirely reasonable.
i stopped reading his posts earlier this year because his tone towards me is sedulously denigrating, but he still replies in my threads frequently.

In other words 'he didnt actually say anything against me, but in order to get back at him for somethihng previous Im going to infer it into the post, then make some random weirdness about people with phones'xoxos wrote:it's the conversation over a duration of exchanges: maybe his tone plays for scholastic camaraderie to you, to me it's unnecessary and insulting to suggest that the unknowns and generalisations needed to be clarified as such, as if i would never have realised without him.
On the other hand, Rurik, here are the facts: you're not going to be the only person that ever turns up in this thread, and Im not about to fail to make it explicitly clear what Im saying. Especially when there are those who might assume that any unknowns and generalisations I leave in my reply are an opening for them to criticise it.
Its not all about you, xoxos. Try and get used to that.
