I've past 2 months since i requested to resell Trillian.
All i get is a short answer "I do not have an answer for you yet".
Is this whats called support? Either accept my request or decline it. What so hard? NI responds the same day and fix it in minutes.
I know that some people will say "there already threads like this" and yes indeed there are but where else to cry out when their support doesn't respond though there has been promises to improvement?

It really baffles the mind. They are so good with support otherwise and very responsive and communicative with customers. And then when it comes to selling the stuff, it seems like the philosophy is 'ignore it and it will go away'.

Something doesn't seem right here. I just posted the other day at Northernsounds about where Spectrum was- and he popped up and responded. If Eric responds to simple posts like that, I have a hard time believing that they are not responding to your request. Are you on some sort of no-fly list in the software world that they haven't approved the transfer yet?
And hey, you are lucky they even offer this- even NI doesn't allow you to resell software unless it is packaged (you can't sell any downloaded instruments).

Oh no, not this again
People are not "lucky" if the process is not expedited
And NI has always taken care of their transfers quickly on my end and no transfer fee so really not a good example.
I do hope the OP gets this squared around

I've always wondered why it takes them so long. Is it some long, drawn-out process that involves a ton of paperwork with signatures and sign-offs across different departments that span multiple timezones? I get this image of like one person who is in charge of approving transfers who's buried deep within some secret cavern and getting to him is similar to what you see in the opening title sequence of Get Smart. Not trying to hate on Spectrasonics because they make quality stuff, but seeing all these posts about long transfers is a head-scratcher considering I've had stuff from NI, AAS, and Ableton turned around in a day or less.

Any company I've ever dealt with gets transfers turned around in a few days at most (And I've dealt with a probably in between 5-10 for license transfers). Except Spectrasonics. I guess I can understand asking people why they want to sell it, so that you can try to improve your product in case there is something recurring that people don't like. But to the point of delaying the transfer just seems needless. If they're going to do it eventually, they might as well just get on it. It's not like it's free either, it costs money. So there's no excuse there. They've said they want to improve, but I can't believe it's not on purpose. If every other company can do it so quickly, I can't believe that this extremely talented and seemingly well organized company can not. /But I don't know, doesn't really make sense because it just hurts their reputation. A reputation which should otherwise be very good. I wish they'd sort it out for their own sake.mgpqa1 wrote:I've always wondered why it takes them so long. In my case (Stylus RMX), it took about 3 months. It's too much hassle and frustration so I will never attempt to resell any of their other products (I also have Trilogy and Atmosphere) and maybe that's their main objective (discourage any license transfers).

Yeah, but spect has been on here before stating things like how they do indeed need to improve and so on. I'll admit that it was coming on here and complaining that got my situation taken care of in a few days
Here's a point that should probably be a sticky somewhere:
Spectrasonics does allow transfers BUT there is a 50 transfer fee and you MUST have permission to sell before hand. Buyer and seller must understand that it can take a very long time to get the transfer completed.
So, the next time someone has one for sale, I'm probably going to mention this. I do allot of buying and selling in the market and it's mostly very positive, but spect stuff seems to be long process.

Now, I will admit- I will never sell any of my softare. The way I figure it- I am getting such a great deal buying soft synths over equivalent hardware that this is just the way it is. I know I won't get any money back from my SW but that is a trade-off I take when I purchase.
Of course, my wife might have something to say about my attitude- but luckily she is scared of KVR hahaha

Is there no law for the whole world which forbids selling anything you ever bought? That would be fine, ain't it?
No one would ever try by bying a product and rely on getting back at least a share of what's been paid for it - there are many things I'd never have bought - cameras, lenses, underwear, tomatoes.
...one thing's for sure: I#ll never buy anything again from Spectrasonics.
Good luck!

I never buy music software with the intention of selling it afterwards. I prefer to keep what I buy because "you never know"

It's probably the CIA being busy with all that terror in... err... I mean prevention.

Spectrasonics can't seem to understand that some people want to sell Stylus RMX/Trillian/Omni. When I wanted to sell something, the support was pretty unsympathetic... they said something like "We make products to use for life". I got the feeling they weren't interested in the request, and I'm not surprised to hear so many people have trouble with them.
If they feel that way, they should not allow transfer of licences and be done with it. From my experience with their support I decided not to buy any more of their stuff in the future. It's this reason I didn't, and won't, buy Trillian. So well done Spectrasonics support for costing at least one sale.
