And awaaaaaaaaaay we go……

But before we do, on a personal note ….. I want to take the opportunity to say thanks for the kind words, and the reassurances, publicly and privately, that running this comp has brought a worthwhile and positive experience to many.
As I've said in not so many words I'm backing off - but I'm not backing down. I will still maintain a level of committment to OSC, and I intend to remain a strong source of assistance and support to V'ger.

Still, it feels kinda funny passing on the big stick, and that is almost certainly due to the great times and all the fun I have enjoyed via the OSC threads … and so thanks again to everyone :)

OK, so sloppy kisses and hugs all round, now get the paws off, dry yer fkn eyes, and lets get down to business … Time to cast your votes for the best GTG's NR2010 only track.

See thread ... http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=301494

This beast is awesome! Is this the best synth ever to be featured in OSC? .. Just go listen to these sounds! … https://sites.google.com/site/kvrosc/osc-22-nr2010

Please listen to all the tracks before casting a vote ... I know it takes a while, but its the only fair way to do things ... Criteria for your voting decision is up to you, but I ask that you take at least some account of the range, nature, and use of the synth's sounds in your decisions.

So here's how!

Visit the One Synth Challenge site!
http://sites.google.com/site/kvrosc/home
...or go direct to the OSC22 page … https://sites.google.com/site/kvrosc/osc-22-nr2010

Here you can download/listen to individual tracks as you wish, or download the whole collection as a zip file, access track info, access a playlist, and keep track of the voting. (You can also find links to tracks, results and all relevant info pertaining to all previous comps. )

Big thanks to V'ger for setting it up this excellent resource, and all the hard work in gathering all the links and info together.

How to vote ...
In accordance with recent discussions, we will go with a 5,4,3,2,1, system.

Step 1. ………
You should allocate your votes, in a single post, in this thread ... something like this ....
Track zxy - 5
Track xqy - 4
Track zqx - 3
Track qzx - 2
Track zqx - 1

Step 2. ……….
....you must then enter these votes directly to the KVROSC site ... look for the 'vote here' link on the OSC22 page. ( link above )

Reviews, however brief, are always welcome, but even if you can only find the time to add a short comment, then please do! ...it keeps the thread alive, and encourages others to listen/vote. I will do a review when I can grab a bit of time to do the job justice.

Step 3.……………

You're not finished yet ….... Suggest a Synth!
Those who cast a set of votes can also vote for the synth they would most like to feature in OSC25. Simply name a single synth preferrably in the same post as your votes, and make it clear ... ie "I suggest Synthname for OSC25". your suggested synth must be freeware and easily available via download. it must also be a synth which has not featured in a previous OSC.

The One Synth Challenge site has all previously featured synths listed on the home page http://sites.google.com/site/kvrosc/home
The synth with most nominations at the close of voting will be the featured synth in OSC25.

Step 4 ……..
check you have completed steps 1, 2 and 3 … :hihi:

**Closing date for votes will be Sun 19th December**

All tracks are very good. I enjoyed listening to them all !
But of course some stuck out and went straight to my happy-muscle;-)

"Impossible To Miss " by Yeager 5 points
"Tiring Years" by Mac of BIOnighT 4 points
"Midnight Runaway " by Archon1024 3 points
"Stickly Stickleston" by Gregech 2 points
"BigHorny" by tattiemannie 1 point

My criteria for voting was melody and suspence/mood, but I was also impressed
with some of the rythmic content and the use of percussive sounds.
I wish I could give all the above equal points :-)

Happy voting,all!
And thanks for choosing my little synth for this challenge :-)

Mik,GTG Synths.

GTG, thanks!! Getting the developer's vote is a special honor

djgrrovy, I believe you have to give all 5 votes (and yes, do join the competition next time, it's fun and learning!)

Is it? I wasn't aware.
Why, if i'm not in, may i ask?

Post

It's just that if you vote, you have to allocate five votes - it's just the rules, goes for all KVRians, not just those who took part in the OSC

Post

Ok, i'll take a second listen tomorrow and vote for the others.

Btw, which synth for the next OSC?

Post

If you have a look at the left column on the site http://sites.google.com/site/kvrosc/home you will see the next two synths that have been chosen. The next is.. any synth, so if you want a comfortable introduction to the whole OSC thing, that might be the place to start from

Cool, thanks.
I think i'll wait for the Krakli one, the fun of it is not having too many choices...

I edited my post above to include the rest of the votes.

True! :) (in that case, my life is an awful lot of fun... :( )

Gegech: This one has a 'sci-fi/adventure' kind of edge to it.

Archon1024: I really like that detune/modulation going on with the bass line.

Yeager: This one has a lot of details; it's very well crafted. Overall, it's got a sort of 'mission impossible' vibe. Musically, it's got several interesting twists and turns.

dwsel: For whatever reason, this reminds me of '70s or '80s avante garde music.

Mike777 (Fractured): This one reminds me of something Keith Emerson might do. It sounds as though it's got a sort of 'tudor thing' about it.

DramaNoMore: This one sounds like it could be longer; a good foundation for a longer piece.

Mick Rippon: I really like this. The 'ufo' sounds add some interesting spice. The video is incredible.

Mac of BIOnighT: These bird sounds to open up are really cool. Overall, this might be the most ambitious contest entry. It covers a lot of ground. Epic!

Mike777 (Revelations): With the other one sounding 'tudorish,' this one sounds kind of 'baroque.' This one has its own "'70s moments."

Tattiemannie: "After going for baroque in getting there, the interstellar traveler named the newly discovered planet ... Iberia.." All kidding aside, I don't know if this is baroque or Iberian, but it's quite the piece.

new kids on the block: Whoah... talk about 'sci-fi.' Excellent!

Vanmorrison: This is contemplative; peaceful; a good way to finish out the list of entries as presented on the google page.

---------------

Ok, this is like the contest in the Music Cafe; in that there aren't enough votes to go around. Just the fact that you've all made the effort to enter this contest in the first place; that's a bigger prize than that which any votes might ever bring.

So, my voting goes:

5 Dwsel
4 Mannie
3 Mac
2 Mike777 (fractured planet)
1 Yeager

ok, a vote for Famisynth 2.5...

I have shamefully failed to contribute to recent OSC's. Too much time spent working the day job, too much time procrastinating, and too much moping over the horrible space I have to work in and the pitiful condition of my DAW and my instruments.

Here are my votes for 22.

Impossible To Miss - Yeager - 5
TIRING_YEARS - Mac of BIOnighT - 4
Revelations From The Age of Enlightenment - Mike777 - 3
Outro - Mrblitz - 2
Fractured Planet - Mike777 - 1

Because I haven't participated myself, I am going to refrain from making any value judgments or reviews.

I have mixed feelings about OSC23, as one of the things that excites me about the OSC is the free software aspect. But if I can make time and get over the slump of my creative block and stop blaming my environment, I do plan to make a contribution.
