Cubase 5 - Routing audio INTO VST Sampler

If you set the audio output of the audio channel to the input of the instrument or VST channel that the sampler is on it should work. You'll probably have to set the instrument channel to 'monitor' and i'm guessing there'll be a setting on the sampler that'll make it live for audio input?
Saying that, recording onto an audio channel and then importing the WAV will be jsut as easy surely?

Yes but how exactly do you route the output of the audio channel to the input of the sampler vst channel? through the mixer? how exactly? sorry i'm a novice at vst audio routing.
Looking at the cubase mixer there is no option to set an audio input into a vst instrument channel, only outputs. Is there no way to do this in cubase, or any other host on pc?

Cubase doesn't support routing audio into VST instruments. Drag and drop from the arrangement into 3rd party samplers isn't supported either.
The only option you have is to record your signal into an audio track, bounce the audio snippet to disk and load it into the sampler through the sampler's internal import function.
You may try REAPER as it has a very flexible routing.
