Excellent news ... thanks Markus.Markus from Tone2.com wrote: Q: Will Firebird also have the 64bit native update?
A: Yes. This is on our schedule for 2011. The update will be for free. It will also include a standalone version.
Tone2 ElectraX is available!

I've received the "special offer" e-mail but the ShareIt price is still showing as 189 euro rather than 150 euro with the "special offer" discount. I've sent an e-mail to Marcus. IMHO 189 euro is too much, but 150 is more bearable.

Just what I expected. A little too much for me right now though.

The price is absolutely justified because ElectraX sounds bombastic.davide37 wrote:I've received the "special offer" e-mail but the ShareIt price is still showing as 189 euro rather than 150 euro with the "special offer" discount. I am surprised at the number of harsh comments. Perhaps I have lived under "Minnesota nice" too long.
I am at work now and will download and try the demo tonight. It would be helpful to be able to read any pdf manual included with the software without downloading the demo. The feature list certainly looks impressive, especially being able to load my own samples, do resynthesis, and use wave tables. I am specifically interested in knowing more about how to create and use my own wave tables - I will have to look into it this evening.
I like the gladiator/gladiator 2 GUIs a lot, find them comfortable, and don't really understand why people are griping about the GUI, but this is based on screen shots and not the real thing in operation. It seems that some developers get more sniping than others.
Finally, I think it is very generous that Tone2 is offering discounts for customers who have licensed their other products. Since this is not an upgrade from an existing product I did not expect any sort of discount. I didn't receive a discount email yet, but I am sure that will get sorted out. Share-it isn't that bad for purchasing software, especially for international purchases.

The "ElectroSlager" piece at 6:35 in the demosong is completely nuts! But I'm just a little in doubt, is it humorous self-deprecation or is it aimed at a new forward thinking generation of fanfare musicians?

Strange, I've received a special offer e-mail too, but only with the offer of a free BiFilter2 license when buying ElectraX at full price. Which I already own a license for (and Warmverb and FireBird too by the way), so nothing to gain for medavide37 wrote:I've received the "special offer" e-mail but the ShareIt price is still showing as 189 euro rather than 150 euro with the "special offer" discount. Did your e-mail clearly say that it would be 150 euro? Maybe you've received another e-mail then me then

Come on please, stop trying to make me look like an average n00b kvr troll. As the experienced user that you are I'm sure you will be able to evaluate the product also without an init patch and maybe use a simple preset sound as suggested as a starting point.

Same e-mail I think. I'd wrongly assumed that the Bifilter2 was included as well as the discount, but it was, as you say, the Bifilter2 included in the full price. I like Tone2's stuff, but I don't feel inclined to buy ElectraX for the full price. I've e-mailed Bastiaan suggesting that a better offer for loyal customers would be a straightforward discounted price.

Oh, and another issue with the ShareIt pricing:
ElectraX USD 199, Euro 189, GBP 176
Glad 2 USD 189, Euro 149, GBP 138.81
The Euro and GBP prices for ElectraX are incorrect if USD 199 is the RRP.

I haven't even tried the demo yet, but I had to laugh at this. I feel the same way about Tone2 stuff. Reminds me of an American car company called Pontiac in the 80s. Their strategy was "put a big engine and a spoiler on it!" The difference here is that the Tone2 stuff actually is a quality product under all that crap. I'm a UI designer and I get clients like Tone2 all the time. I try to tell them to look at a design like you look at your clothes or haircuts. Is this something you're going to be embarassed about 10 years from now?bmanic wrote:Would like to know this as well. I'm a bit hesitant to get ElectraX, even though the features look nice, due to the way Gladiator 2 was updated with paid features through new "sound banks". Irritating strategy that makes the synth unsuitable as a sound design target (can't know what user has various features).audiobot202 wrote:Is there a discount for Gladiator owners by the way? I just assumed there was...but I could be wrong. Anyone?
We'll see how Tone2 does with the updates.
EDIT: well, after testing the demo I had a good chuckle. It's definitely a Tone2 product in all it's glory. Horrendous overly splashy graphics, way WAY overdone bloom and weird 3D "realistic" perspective. Overly processed sound and presets drenched in FX. Demo extremely annoying with a sudden stop of sound after about 10 minutes and a forced jump to their website. I mean.. COME ON!!! Seriously?
Perhaps I'm getting old but doesn't anybody else get a little chuckle out of all this? In finnish we would say "Hiukan meni yliyrittämisen puolelle..". It's like the company has no self confidence at all and has to overdo absolutely everything. More! Bigger! More bright! More FX! More bloom! More 3D!!! MOOOORE!!!! It's like a soap opera where they have finally cranked the saturation to 11 and made the dominating colour red. Yeah, it's warm all right.. and ridiculously, annoyingly processed, but where is the soul? Perhaps it's just me and this just doesn't click with me, at all.
Cheers!

I just tested ElectraX.
It sounds fantastic for my ears.
But more like the big brother of Gladiator 2.
I own the Gladiator 2 and I am very happy with it.
But I think ElectraX is too similar to the sound of Gladiator 2 that I would pay 189€ as "special offer" for it. I think that 99€ would be okay as special price for Gladiator 2 owners.

First I saw the price. YIKES!! then I tried the demo
Sad to not see an intro price though
but in the end, Yes! I'll own this!
Top Notch job Tone2!
