The highest form of knowledge is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another's world. It requires profound, purpose‐larger‐than‐the‐self kind of understanding.

Apples and bananas.justin3am wrote:My question was more if the Sustainer is different enough from using an ebow to justify the cost. If the difference is in the playing technique that is cool, I have no qualms about learning.
An ebow is extremely limiting as far as playing technique is concerned, almost a gimmick. No offense ...
A Sustainer however is completely transparent in operation, very organic.
You play the guitar like you're used to, all techniques work like before.
Personally I digthe setting that emphasizes the octave best, used sparingly you can make it sound like real feedback, almost.
That's basically what I meant with my previous comment.
Haven't tried, maybe even eBow + Sustainer would sound cool, too ?

The JMP-1 doesn't feed high voltage to its tube. I wouldn't be surprised if a single tube lasts your lifetime.rectus_dominus wrote:About the Marshall: I don't think I'd invest in something what has tubes in it. I'm afraid of the tube's lifetime and the sturdiness.

You should see my 70s bent top Les Paul. The bent top was done only to save money yet it creates a sound that's markedly different from a carved top Les Paul.NEKRO.MACHINE wrote:"Vintage Ibanez Guitars" really is not a term i have heard used before/classic maybe...Vintage is pushing it, no?

I've got a Voodoo-modded MP1, a Hafler-Bogner, and two Soldano's (one purple, one gray) and none of them do it for me like a proper amp.NEKRO.MACHINE wrote:The reason(s) i still want to get my mits on an ADA MP1:

and NO before anyone attempts to say it - It is not a poor man's Triaxis/Soldano/JMP-1! With Mods it is dope and the MP2 is on my rack list also still along with some more high end units

There have been some low-priced DK2T's with Sustainiacs on Ebay lately. Since you're into the Dinky body, I recommend checking one of those out.JediMind wrote:Jackson DK2T

Been having two JMP-1s for maybe 15 years now, one in a live rig and one as a studio workhorse, used almost daily.Uncle E wrote:The JMP-1 doesn't feed high voltage to its tube. Haven't had a single tube issue yet, and don't expect one.
From time to time I try new ones, no significant difference with identical types so I put the old ones back in.
And even if a tube goes bad, so what ?
It's not like they are expensive by any means.

It's not a bad pre, but the Soldano tones I love are more related to the power stage, trannies and all, than the preamp imho.
And they sound shitty at low volume.
Unfortunately my gray one was extremely picky as far as power amps go, so I sold it and never looked back.
I'll probably pick up an SLO someday, when I find a good used one, that's the real deal.
Btw, I much preferred the gray SP77 over the purple one a friend used to play, that's why I asked.
Talking about low to mid gain here, metal might be oompletely different, dunno.

seems a lot of guitar for the money, anyone any experience of them?
