They're not bad, infact they're very clever and produce quality software, i never spoke to that Markus guy, only Bastiaan and he's as sound as a pound :)
I think most people were miffed when they left KVR a while back, i wasn't one of them as i never owned a Tone2 product but i might just own this one when the price is lowered and licence transfer fees scrapped :D That goes for any company not just Tone2.

BTW
The UI don't make sounds, it's what's under the hood that counts..I quite like the design anyways.

Once upon a time an old man told me that Markus is the Antichrist on monday and the second come of Jesus Christ on tuesday. BTW this is the subject of another thread, on another site of a parallel universe... :lol: So there's no reason to talk about this here. I think the subject of this thread is ElectraX... :shrug:

Concerning ElectraX: any comparison with Gladiator sounds strange to me to be honest, maybe you need more time to dig a bit more with the synth(s) features and realize the full possibilities offered by the sound engine and synth(s) structure. It's clear that the sound programming approach is different from user to user, but one of the things I like the best (I think I already said this before) is the fact you can program complex pattern-alike patches that can be "automated" in real-time (using for example the external modulators like the MW or pitchbend to turn on/off different parts [synths]); to program a patch which can be used as a basic (or not so basic, under some circumstances) starting point for a full song it's very easy with ElectraX. I like, for example, new age/ambient stuff a lot, and ElectraX seems the perfect tool to create custom evolving and user controlled atmospheric patches in a new way. Since has been mentioned... I own Alchemy player with some samples libraries, and it's a good tool too (I use it a lot), but there are no terms of comparison between the two in terms of synth structure, sound engine and overal concept; while I tend to see Alchemy Player more like my everyday new age/experimenting tool (I would like to mention Wusik too here, another great instrument in my collection which I use on a regular basis), ElectraX is a more "open" instrument IMO ("more" not in comparison with these synths, but in general terms), which give me the option to reach the sound I'm looking for in a very fast and spontaneous way without tweaking to much knobs and thanks also to the clear synth layout; for me it's very easy to program a pad, a bass line, and/or a complex patch with percussions and rhythmic elements with it on the fly and all this with a total flat learning curve (using other instruments I had to dig into the manual to understand how to do "this" or "that", with ElectraX it took me 5 minutes to understand how it works and, to be honest, as a beta tester I've never seen a single page of the manual :hihi:).

The more I use ElectraX the more I'm convinced is the synth that was missing in my collection, the main difference between ElectraX and my other synths is the approach working with it, I see it as a "realtime performance synth" (well this is how I see it and use it), which was something I was looking for from a lot of time.

Concerning the overal sound. Someone pointed out that doesn't sound so different from Gladiator. Well, I don't know... any synth has its taste and any developer tend to move in one direction so this can contribute to give a generalized idea which is not always very close to reality. My suggestion here is to experiment with it: learn from the preset sounds, play with them but remember that, IMO, the fun with ElectraX begins when you start to program your sounds and your sound. For me ElectraX doesn't sound like Gladiator... and also Gladiator doens't sound like Gladiator when I program my sounds, to be honest :hihi: But here it's just a matter of personal taste and approach to programming ;)

@Scott: you'll have a lot of fun this year for sure! :hihi:

I have to say that demo limit time was quite annoying as everytime I almost get the sound I wanted, time ended and I have to start from beginning and did not have time enough to figure out if I get the sound that I wanted. Atleast 20 minutes would be needed. I think from developers point of view it would be sensible to make demoversion where you can save but not load but have enough time. With those kind of versions I usually endup doing song and then I have to buy the product :D This happened with Morphox :)

Otherwise I liked the sound very much but thats was no supprise as I like gladiator also. I was basicly expecting simplified version of Gladiator but instead this seemed like a monster version. My main problem is that there are 4 synth layers. I am not sure if this gonna work for me. I noticed that I am instantly trying to mute extra layers, then I forget to press synth layer and when I tweak something it activates that synth layer... then I wondering again where that sound comes from.

Also with basses I usually "shorten" the volume envelope. Now I have to do it 4 times to get bas as short that I want. I usually do this layering on sequencer side. Action sounds were wonderfull but I was hoping that there would be a split option which would make them 4 separate presets which were using only 1 synth part. :)

I think if tone2 will offer good discount instead of current offering, I propably will buy it because of the sound but with current prise I really have to test this multilayer thing if it will work for me. Well, I only had hour or two with this so lets see after couple of night. :)

I have a few questions,

1) Will there be functions of this synth that will only become availible when you buy expansions ala Gladiator2 ?

2) There appears to be people stating about some spyware or malware within Tone2 products, I have no previous experience of this, therefore can anyone elaborate on the problem ? Not trying to cause trouble, but sometimes there is no smoke without fire.

3) Will there be a group buy ?
Don't trust those with words of weakness, they are the most aggressive

Q: I am impressed by the sound of the analog filters. How do they work?
A: ElectraX has two identical filters per layer, each with an excellent range of filters to
sculpt your sound. The output from each oscillator can be routed to either filter 1 or 2 or
any proportion in between (60% to Filter 1, 40% to Filter 2 for example).
ElectraX's analog filter types - LP12 /18/ 24, HP12 /18/ 24 and BP12 /18/ 24 are circuit
modelled. Great care was taken to emulate the characteristics of hardware analog filters
down to the circuit level. These characteristics to the filter's sound can be reduced or
augmented by the ANALOG control knob.

Q: Will there be an Xmas sale from Tone2?
A: Disounts devaluate the products and annoy customers who payed the regular price. We try to keep our prices as stable as possible.

----------------------

Q: From the little that I know about profit made by these guys and gals, I would imagine that they are doing this more for the love of it rather than for it's vast earning potential.
A: You need a lot of ambition and idealism to create a huge a product like ElectraX for an overcrowded niche market. If we would be interested in profit, we'd develop apps for the IPad/IPhone.

----------------------

Q: The action synth presets, sound great, how exactly we're they made? they sound like different layers,one part had drums, and then a synth, is it possible for me to make similar layers with the presets within this synth or?
A: Yes. You can build up such presets for yourself. Every layer is a complete synth with an own arpeggiator. For example you can for stack a drum computer on a 303 and a pad. This is nice for life performances and fun to play.

-----------------------

Q: Does it not support midi program changes?
A: Yes. Make sure that your hosts forwards the midi messages to the plugin.

-----------------------

Q: How can ElectraX be compared with Gladiator?
A: Both products are virtual synthesizers from Tone2. However they are very different products and sound very different. We have taken big care that the feature-sets and concepts of both products do not overlap.

-----------------------

Q: I am a student and can't afford ElectraX?
A: Feel free to conact Bastiaan (noord[a t]tone2[do t]com. He'll take care of this.

-----------------------

Q: I received the email with the special offer which includes a free BiFilter2 licence. But I already own it.
A: Thank you for beeing a faithful customer. Feel free to conact Bastiaan (noord[a t]tone2[do t]com. He'll take care of this.

----------------------

Q: I don't like the GUI.
A: Tone2 ElectraX ships with four different skins. It can be changed in ElectraXskin.txt
This file defines the Skin configuration for the interface.
Change the number in the first line and save this textfile to activate custom skin settings.

Configuration:

1 = Default setting; White skin for first page; Mixed skins for the rest;
2 = Black skin for first page; Mixed skins for the rest;
3 = Orange skin for first page; Mixed skins for the rest;
4 = Grey skin for first page; Mixed skins for the rest;
5 = White skin for all pages;
6 = Black skin for all pages;
7 = Orange skin for all pages;
8 = Grey skin for all pages;

Q: I think that the time limit of the demo is too short.
A: You can reload the plugin to get another period. We'll thing about extending the testing time in an update.

---------------------

Q: Will there be soundsets?
A: Yes. We plan to release a soundset at the beginning of 2011. It will contain a large number of additonal presets. Beside of that we expect that a large number of 3rd party soundsets.

----------------------

Q: Is this synth suitable as a sound design target?
A: Definitely! We have taken a lot of care on this aspect. There are huge possibilities. Custom samples and and wavetables are bundeled with the fxp file. 3rd party developers can even create installers for their soundset. You can create own categories (directories) and manage the content on your harddisc. The plugin automatically detects your pataches and lists them in the preset browser.

----------------------

Q: Where can i refer when i have problems?
A: The right place can be found here: http://www.tone2.com/html/support_-_faq.html

----------------------

Q: Will there be free updates?
A: We will notify you by e-mail about product updates. You don't have to pay for minor updates (e.g. 1.0 to 1.1). They are free and are sent out automatically by e-mail when they are available. We deliver the updates to the e-mail address which you used for your order. You can verify in the news section of this web site whether you own the latest version.

----------------------

Q: How does the resynthesis button work?

A: The Wavetable oscillator type allows you to load user samples which ElectraX then
automatically tunes, stretches and loops the sample. The PW control can be used to
modulate the pulsewidth of the sample.
The Resynthesis control will open a standard file browser when clicked where you
can browse for and load your own standard sample files (.wav file extension).
How ElectraX resynthesizes your sample depends on the size of the sample file.
File with less than 4096 samples:
ElectraX will treat these sample files as a single cycle waveform and will automatically,
stretch and loop it. You can use the PW control to change the pulse-width of the waveform.
File with 4096 samples or more:
ElectraX will automatically tune, stretch and loop the sample. It will then resynthesize a
custom waveform from the middle section of the sound. You can use the PW control to
change the pulse-width of the waveform.
Please take a look at the handbook for further details.

----------------------

Q: The only thing more valuable then money is time.
A: I disagree with that. Health is more valuable than time. I've ruined mine and can't recover it.

----------------------

Q: An error occurred during the generation of your license key. I bought and am now waiting for the license file.
A: We are sorry if a problem has appeared. We will personnaly take care of this an reship the software to you. Feel free to contact noord[a t]tone2[do t]com . Every singe user has received the software in the past.

------------------

Q: Markus is arrogant / i can not confirm Markus seems to be arrogant?
A: Please note that we don't do support on kvr. You can find our forum here: http://www.tone2.org/forum/
Additional free support is given in the support section on our website or by email.
If you are interested to meet me in real life, because you don't know me, i can invite you to meet me at home. Then you can get a picture about my character.

------------------

Q: Is there censorship on Tone2 forum?
A: Our forum is a very peaceful place. It is available for customers. During the last year we only had to delete two posts and ban one user for 10 days. We sometimes have to move topics to a different section, because they are done in the wrong place or rename threads to make them more informative for other users who might also be interested in this. If you have problems to find the history of your posts, log in and click on profile->show posts. Luckily there is no need for censorship.

----------------------

Q: Where can i find the free resynthesis tool for Gladiator?
A: http://www.tone2.org/forum/index.php?topic=197.0

----------------------

Q: Will Gladiator be updated?

A: Gladiator is under heavy development.

For the coming Gladiator update we already finished this:

- We successfully created a 64-bit version (GladiatorX64.dll) of Gladiator
- We successfully created a standalone version of Gladiator

The update, the 64-bit version and the standalone version will be free for all Gladiator2 users. We planed the update for January.

Beside of that we provided a free resynthesis tool for Gladiator in autumn. You can find it in the 'goodies' section within our forum.

----------------------

Q: Is there a VST 64 bit version of ElectraX?
A: Yes. If you purchase a full version you'll receive a dowload link for the 32 as well as the 64 bit version. The demo is 32 bit only.

Q: Where can i refer if i have a question?
