I will let Hink answer that question as he has been doing his own guitars up for alot longer than i have my own and friendsrectus_dominus wrote:So, if I glue tin foil just all over the box it helps? On another note though, the EMG HZ humbuckers are quite high ouput ceramic magnet jobs and they should not have a high background noise/hum & buzz unless you are using high-gain amp settings - your best friend here in this case is a noise-gate (i use the Boss NS-2 but there are others which work for other people) or if the guitar is still making a racket all by itself on clean settings then check to see incase the pickups ground solder joint has not gone dry and needs re-soldering. I am not sure where this will be on your guitar - If it has a floyd or floyd-like trem it is usually just above left of where the the top spring claw is. If that is the issue then it will make a world of difference and less than a minute with your Iron

Argh, I'm reluctant to tear my lil' Cort apart. I'll shop for some copper stuff when I'll have my non-rusty screws in my pocket and can switch that. I'm a bit afraid of messing with the electronics and stuff. Also I'm even afraid to do the set-up on my guitar... But eventually I'll have to learn it.
It would be the first guitar I mess with, and I hope I won't screw up anything. Any other tips for little enhancements?

I haven't heard that in years since I sold all my vinyl.Hink wrote:Brian May and Friends with EVH (Starfleet Project) is very 'human', some wonky notes, an endless jam, some great playing, and some 'oops'
If I remember correctly, Eddie breaks a string and the guitar goes out of tune but they keep playing with everything slightly out of tune from that point on.
Still a really good jam though.

In Dean's case it's more like black noise.

We're currently blowing out Viper 1000's for $359 each:JediMind wrote:So...what's the best fixed bridge geetar for around $1k?

Mahogany bodies, killer pickups, Tone Pros hardware, Earvana nuts, locking tuners, etc. If you ask the Seymour Duncan forum, the Custom 5/'59 pickup combo in the white one is generally considered to be the very best for this type of guitar. It's what I've got in my own Les Paul, as well, and I love it.
Aside from that, Gibson had a series of SG's and Les Paul Jr's that weren't properly finished, only stained, that was killer for the money. For around $800, you could get a proper, American made Gibson that was even more resonant than a higher-end model thanks to the light finish. I always wanted one of those.
